If
you thought - like me - so far, that the HTC Wiki site was just an independent
customer project, you were wrong - as I was. Because Wetpaint.com announced
today that HTC America (High Tech Computer Corp.) has chosen Wetpaint to build
and host a new wiki Website to help support HTC's growing online community. The
Web site, which can be found at www.htcwiki.com , is a place where HTC's
passionate customer base are encouraged to share their experiences, offer tips
and tricks and recommend new devices to other customers as well as to HTC.
At the moment, it looks like a project of HTC Amercia only but I'm sure the
European and Asian users will find their place their as well, even if European
devices like the HTC MTeoR doesn't appear on the site at all.
"HTC is truly leading the industry by creating HTCWiki.com to help spur
and be part of an interactive dialogue with its user community," said Ben
Elowitz, CEO of Wetpaint. "This level of transparency reinforces the
outstanding relationships the company has with partners and customers."
"HTC device users, partners and potential customers are very engaged and
vocal when it comes to technology, so we wanted to give them an easy way to
connect not only with us but also with our partners and other consumers,"
said David Smith, Director of Marketing for HTC. "Creating HTCWiki.com with
Wetpaint was a great solution because it gives our customers a site where
the user community can get together and share valuable information."
Well, now I wonder if sites like Xda-developers.com, MoDaCo or the::unwired
will face serious competition from HTC as well? ;-) Don't think so at all and
it's appreciated, that HTC launched such a project - as long as HTC is listening
the customer feedback as well.
Cheers ~ Arne
