Monday, Runcom Technologies, a technology company pioneering OFDMA based silicon
solutions for User Terminals and Base Stations that comply with the
IEEE802.16e-2005 standard for WiBro and Mobile WiMax applications, disclosed at
the WiMax World Conference in Boston, that they have recently signed a
collaboration agreement with Microsoft to develop Windows Mobile compatible
drivers for the Runcom solution based on their WiMAX chipset with the goal of
making Mobile WiMax a mass market technology with "Plug and Play" capabilities.
Runcom solution will allow users of mobile devices running the Pocket PC
platform of Windows Mobile 5.0 to connect to Mobile WiMax networks simply by
inserting Mobile WiMax CF or USB card without the need to install or download
any drivers.
"Choice in how you connect is an essential part of our partner ecosystem
philosophy," said Chris Hill, group product manager, Microsoft Corp. "We are
pleased to have a pioneer in OFDMA technology like Runcom expand
connectivity options on Windows Mobile powered devices through their Mobile
WiMax solution."
Israel Koffman, Runcom's VP Marketing noted: " The collaboration with
Microsoft is a very significant step in the fulfillment of Runcom vision of
making OFDMA a mass market global technology"
