Samsung Electronics Singapore today announced the availability of the Samsung Ultra
Messaging i600 for March. The SGH-i600 (see
the::unwired's preview here) is a Windows Mobile-based Smartphone, featuring
HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
connectivity. Already launched in the USA last year as Cingular BlackJack (aka
i607), the Samsung Ultra Messaging i600 is one of the world's slimmest Wi-Fi
enabled HSDPA smartphones, making it a mobile powerhouse that integrates
functionality and multimedia capabilities with modern contemporary design into
one sleek package. This mobile workstation also allows for seamless
communication with Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, which enables faster data transfer between
devices.

Running on Windows Mobile 5.0 Operating System, the Samsung Ultra Messaging
i600 is equipped with MS Direct Push Technology that instantly updates E-Mail,
calendar, contacts and tasks on Office Outlook, giving users accessibility to
their work and schedules anytime, anywhere. Users can also retrieve information
on the move, as the smartphone supports RSS feeds as well as pod-casting, which
allows access to a wealth of information on the latest news on various topics
such as current affairs, travel and health. This ensures users enjoy
entertainment and receive information in the same way they would with their home
desktop or laptop.
"With the UItra Messaging i600, we will continue to drive the trend in
the Smartphone market with ultra-slim products that display technological
prowess and enhanced capabilities. This sleek looker empowers busy
executives with a combination of a truly mobile business solution, as well
as a portable, on-demand multimedia experience," said Mr. Ng Long Shyang,
Director, Sales & Marketing, Telecoms and IT Products, Samsung Asia Pte Ltd.
The Samsung Ultra Messaging i600 is also equipped with the Piscel Viewer,
which supports MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint formats as well as PDF and various
image formats. One-click access to E-Mail attachments enables busy executives on
the go to easily view documents, presentations and spreadsheets, which they can
easily scroll through with a dial conveniently located at the side of the phone.
At play, users can enjoy powerful multimedia features such as Bluetooth
Stereo Music Profile and Windows Media Player 10, which lets users enjoy crisp
and clear music quality and view videos on a 2.3" 65K color QVGA TFT-LCD screen.
An external memory slot that supports up to 2 GB microSD further allows seamless
content streaming of videos. Users can also enjoy other multimedia features,
including a 1.3 Megapixel camera with autofocus and a VGA camera for video
telephony.
The Samsung Ultra Messaging i600 is available in Singapore from early March.
According to the::unwired information, March can be also expected for a launch
in Europe.
