Toshiba's
second device, unveiled at 3GSM Congress in Barcelona, is the G900 Windows
Mobile Standard smartphone. The G500 is a compact, triband 3G enabled, slider
style handset, superbly designed with cool, calm and collected good looks. With
the G500, you're traveling first class, worldwide.
The fingerprint sensor uses biometric technology to ensure that the G500 is
secured against unauthorized access. The same sensor can be used to navigate the
phone's menus at the touch of a finger. If you use a Bluetooth notebook PC, it
can be locked and unlocked due to its proximity to your G500, up to a radius of
approximately 10m.
The G500 offers you seamless connectivity: it's powerful enough to retrieve
e-mails quickly with or without attachments, handle superb quality video
streaming and fast downloading of video clips. You can also get full multimedia
messaging, high-speed color internet access and with support for Microsoft's
Direct Push technology.
You can also send messages via SMS or MMS and with VoIP, you can make voice
calls using a broadband internet connection instead of a regular landline.

The quality of the 2.3" wide screen is simply stunning. On board, there are
two cameras: a 2 mega pixel camera with digital zoom to capture images in
detail; video clips can be captured and played back with great picture and sound
quality. And there's a secondary camera for handling video calls.
The G500 offers you all the familiar Windows Mobile 5.0 tools, including
Outlook plus viewing support for Word, Excel and PowerPoint and with support for
Bluetooth, WiFi and USB, you're ready for action wherever you are. What's more,
the G500 can via Bluetooth or WiFi be used both as a remote keyboard and screen
for your PC – so you can remotely control a presentation and send and receive
messages whilst using a PC. The G500 carries 64 MB of internal memory: you can
always use the optional miniSD card to increase it to 2 GB.
Your favorite music is easy to copy from your PC to the G500 using the
Windows Media Player Mobile platform and the high quality MP3 player means you
can get the most and the best from your music. Who said you can't mix business
with pleasure?
The Toshiba G500 can be expected across Europe late 1st quarter 2007; a price
wasn't given yet.
