UNVEILED: LG announces the LG G Watch - The Company's first Android Wear Smartwatch

Following today's Android Wear announcement, LG unveiled the LG G Watch, the company's first product which is powered by Android Wear; extending the Android platform to wearables. LG's G Watch is said to be compatible with a wide range of Android smartphones and will present relevant information to users just when they need it or whenever they say "OK Google" to ask questions or get stuff done. The LG G Watch powered by Android Wear will present a low barrier to entry for developers and offer the best Google experience for users. LG engineers worked closely with Google from the initial stages of development to ensure that the LG G Watch worked perfectly with Android Wear.

Remember when I told you last October that Google had plans to fork Android for wearables? Well, Google made it official now as "Google Wear" and it makes sense for Google since wearables are a hot topic for the industry and one of "the next big things" after smartphones have reached its penetration in developed market. As Google said in a blog posting, "we're only at the beginning [with mobile technology]" and that "we've barely scratched the surface of what's possible with mobile technology". That's why Google said it's so "excited about wearables" because "they understand the context of the world around you, and you can interact with them simply and efficiently, with just a glance or a spoken word".

CONTRIBUTION: HTC aims to create a Supercomputer with "HTC Power to Give" for Android

Remember SETI@home, a project launched back in 1999 which is an Internet-based public volunteer computing project employing the BOINC software platform, hosted by the Space Sciences Laboratory, at the University of California, Berkeley? Well, HTC announced today that it will do something similar. At its Mobile World Congress press conference, HTC unveiled "HTC Power To Give", a mobile-based volunteer computing project to empower smartphone owners to help answer some of the world's biggest questions. The initiative aims to create a supercomputer by harnessing the collective processing power of Android smartphones. Currently in beta, HTC Power To Give aims to galvanize smartphone owners to unlock their unused processing power in order to help answer some of society's biggest questions.
