CONNECTIVITY: GPRS Traffic Counter from All-locations
Posted by Arne Hess - at 14:16 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

With the newest PDAs, it’s possible to be connected to the Internet continuously, wherever you are and whenever you want. To be connected to the Internet, these new PDAs use GPRS connections. But, contrary to a normal modem connection, which is billed for the time being on-line, a GPRS connection is billed for the amount of data traffic you generate.

Until now it was very difficult to measure the amount of traffic used by you on your PDA. For this reason ALL-locations developed the GPRS Traffic Counter.

FAX: Using KSE Truefax with the Compaq Wireless Pack
Posted by Arne Hess - at 10:19 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

I just got this information from KSE regarding using its Truefax 2 with the Compaq Wireless GSM/GPRS pack. Truefax doesn't supports Fax Class 2 (but Fax Class 1 only) which is supported by the Wireless Pack only! So if you want to use your Wireless Pack for fax also, you can not use it with Truefax today! Be aware of it!

KSE is working on a solution for this but can not give an upgrade date today. If anything will be available I will give you an update here!

CELEBRATION: Happy Birthday Pocket PC
Posted by Arne Hess - at 16:02 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Just a half year after the launch of the Pocket PC 2002 platform, the Pocket PC platform by itself becomes 2 years today.
This should be a good reason to celebrate this (which I will do tonight, but not because the Pocket PC birthday only, mostly because my best friend also has birthday tonight ;-) event today.
When the Pocket PC was launched, it was version 3 of Microsoft's Windows CE platform and I remembered a lot of people who never gave a chance for Microsoft to step into this Palm and Psion domain. Now, two years later, the Pocket PC is stronger and more successful than ever and also the interest from the developer side is huge, as I saw the last two days in London.
With 10.000+ available applications for the Pocket PC, 25 announced OEMs, hundreds of community web sites, Microsoft showed that it is possible to build up a new successful business stream.
