PLUG-IN: Today Screen RSS Feed
Posted by Arne Hess - at 16:59 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Andy from Pocket PC Thoughts pointed to this cool application which shows you the latest information from your favorite websites as RSS/OPML feed:

PocketRSS is a Today Screen plugin and stand-alone application which allows a quick and easy method of displaying various types of RSS/OPML compliant data on your Today Screen. It does require a connection to the Internet from the PocketPC, but is designed to still function while offline.

It is designed to be used with any of the many hundreds of RSS/OPML webdata sources available in the public domain. This way the user will have access to RSS-formatted news, sports, weblogs, etc. Whatever RSS/OPML compliant data you can find, PocketRSS will display it for you on your PocketPC.

For sure PPCW.Net is available as RSS too so why not taking it on your Today screen

Posted by Arne Hess - at 12:35 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Seiko Instruments USA Inc. today announced the arrival in the UK of the first deliveries of InkLink, a pocket-sized, digital device, designed to enable handwritten notes and drawings to be digitally recorded and transferred to PDAs and computers.

First unveiled as a concept at CeBIT, in March 2002, InkLink is now being shipped in volume to UK at a suggested retail price of £99 sterling and can be obtained from major retailers and online stores.

This pocket-sized digital device, which supports Palm, Pocket PC and Windows Operating Systems, was developed to make it easy for users of Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), handheld computers, laptops, and desktop PCs to instantly transfer their handwritten notes from paper to their personal computer of choice.

As users write with the InkLink pen, their handwritten notes and drawings are transferred via the IrDA Transceiver into a PDA or a Laptop or PC connected via a USB port (serial option). InkLink's proprietary software, InkNote Manager, gives users the freedom to cut, copy, paste, e-mail and store handwritten notes in digital form.
Packaged in a sleek carrying case, it measures 193mm long (7.6") x 74mm wide (2.9") x 143mm high (1.4"), and weighs 143ml (4.75 ounces) and fits in a pocket or handbag. The carrying case holds the InkLink Electronic Ballpoint Pen, Data Clip, and the IrDA Transceiver.

EasyConfig ensures that features such as flow control are matched to AT commands that are compatible (and work) with your phone. It also allows you to configure the data service bearer (Analogue or  ISDN/V.100) type and preferred connection speed (HSCSD), these settings are dependant on the GSM service provider and the dial ISP used.

INPUT: Fullscreen keyboard for Pocket PC to be released soon

Most interesting it is for me to be used with Wireless Pocket PCs like the o2 xda. With that keyboard you can enter SMS in a more convenient way without the stylus, directly by typing the text with your thumbs on the screen:
