I just got an E-Mail with a pre-Beta version of SoftMaker's TexMaker and hey, these guys really amazed me! I've never imagined that a Pocket PC could become such a powerful word processing device.

So far SoftMaker announced that TexMaker should support 100+ of features you are normally know from your Desktop only but when I’ve created my first document in this test version, everything became true:

HOTSPOTS: Swisscom Mobile to launch Public Wireless LAN on 2 December 2002

As already announced, Swisscom Mobile (the wireless share of Swisscom, the former Swiss PTT) has been working all-out to build its own public wireless LAN network at heavy-traffic locations (hotspots) throughout Switzerland. From 2 December 2002 users of laptops or pocket PCs will be able to enjoy fast, wireless access to the Net from any hotspot. Public wireless LAN will be demonstrated live for the first time at the Orbit/Comdex Europe 2002 trade fair in Basel, where the public will be able to try it out free of charge.

Swisscom Mobile will be demonstrating its new public wireless LAN product for the first time at Orbit/Comdex Europe 2002. All the exhibition halls have been configured as a large hotspot where visitors with a laptop or pocket PC with WLAN card will be able to try out fast, mobile access to the Internet for themselves. PREANNOUNCEMENT: TextMaker for Pocket PC - Desktop-Class Word Processing On The Road

Just got yesterday the announcement from SoftMaker Germany, that also Pocket PC owners will soon be able to dump Pocket Word. SoftMaker has set the release date for a public beta version of TextMaker for Pocket PCs for September 30, 2002. Starting on this day, SoftMaker will make the beta available as a free download on their web site.

Pricing has also been announced for TextMaker for Pocket PCs. The standalone version will retail for US$49.95 (EUR 59.95), and a bundle with SoftMaker's Windows-based edition of TextMaker carries a price tag of US$69.95 (EUR 79.95).

RUMOR: Microsoft wants to release Smartphone 2002 before Christmas this year

According to an Interview in the German "Handelsblatt" (a "serious" newspaper like Financial Times), Microsoft plans to launch the first Smartphones 2002 in Europe before Christmas this year! USA and Japan will follow later.

And yes; according to this story they are talking about Smartphones not only a Smartphone... Does it mean that we will see different brands and models before Christmas here in Europe?
