LOOX: More GPRS Add-on Module Photos and Information available
Posted by Arne Hess - at 14:45 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

I received a number of photos of the coming GPRS/GSM add-on module for the Pocket LOOX today and like to share them with you.

Some technical information: The module comes with a built-in battery of 900 mAh and offers three hours talking time. I have two information about the stand-by time, but the lower one mentions more than 100 hours. So, it lasts at least as long as the LOOX' internal battery.

As you see, this is not the final module yet as it will be on sales in a few weeks time. So, my request to all of you being interested to learn every single detail about it - please understand that the amount of information is still quite limited and changes might occur without any notice.

DRIVER: Audiovox RTM-8000 GPRS Settings Wizard
Posted by Arne Hess - at 14:42 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

You might wonder why the Audiovox GPRS card review isn't already online. The answer is pretty simple, I've awaited a feedback from Audiovox which I got now. It's about the GPRS settings as in the original configuration the RTM-8000 doesn't included any GPRS wizard which takes care of the SIM card PIN or APN settings. Because of this lack of support I wasn't so satisfied with the overall impression of the card because you have to be a geek to get data working.

However, now I got a Beta from Audiovox which will become available for all Audiovox RTM-8000 owners and this is for the GPRS settings:

POWER: Replace your proprietary PDA battery
Posted by Arne Hess - at 22:02 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Did you know you can replace your PDA battery? Many handhelds use the regular AA batteries but many more use proprietary batteries. Among these are popular brands such as: Compaq iPAQ, HP Jornada, Sony Clie, and a few Palm Pilots.
Manufacturers make a secret of the fact that the battery can be replaced. But batteries for these models are not easy to find. Laptops for Less is introducing kits for replacing these batteries, complete with tools and installation instructions (you can see animated instructions online).
