Posted by Arne Hess - at 14:00 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Due to the overwhelming demand for the PPCW.Net i-Mate, this morning I ran out of stock for now.
The next batches are ordered and are expected to arrive mid next month. I'm really sorry for the inconvenience but like before I'm still accepting pre-orders.
So if you want to order a PPCW.Net i-Mate (same as the Orange SPV100) you can continue but please keep in mind that it takes some days now until I can ship your device! You will not be invoiced before I have the devices here - for sure; like before.

LINK: New photos and review of Mitac's Mio 8380 available
Posted by Arne Hess - at 12:31 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

If you are looking for some exciting photos and a detailed review of the new MiTAC Mio 8380 Smartphone, you should check out mobilejoe.de.

lutzh, Moderator at mobilejoe.de, recently received his terminal from Taiwan and published some interesting photos there, together with his first impressions!
Like I've published before in my column "Mitac's Mio 8380 clamshell Smartphone compared to HTC Canary" the Mio 8380 is extreme big. At least it's more then 2/3rd of an Orange SPV which is definitely to big for a clam-shell phone.

HOME SCREEN: Analog Clock Plug-in for Smartphone 2002
Posted by Arne Hess - at 13:11 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Skinning is always a hot topic on Pocket PCs and now on Smartphones as well and it was often asked if a plug-in for an analogue clock is available. Now it is available from MadBeetle:

The analogue clock plug-in puts a analogue clock onto the home page, as well as it displays the time in text, the date, and Internet time (@ time). This was introduced by Swatch and is a number 0-1000 that represents time and its the same time all over the world. So if you arrange to call someone @765 in a different country , you don't need to worry about time zones because @765 is the same all over the world.

JoshB posted an interesting news on the PPCW.Net Forum. He tried to get a T-Mobile Phone Edition from CompUSA without success. After some phone calls he got the following response from CompUSA:

According to the person I spoke to in the PDA department, no CompUSA west of the Mississippi has any in stock, and their inventory system shows it as "discontinued".
He said that must mean that a replacement is coming, but he didn't have any details.

AVAILABILITY: PPCW.Net i-Mate Smartphone is in stock
Posted by Arne Hess - at 23:17 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

This is just an update because during the past days I got a lot of E-Mails about the availability of the PPCW.Net i-Mate Smartphone 2002 aka HTC Tanager.

Yes, currently it is in stock and normally ships within 24 hours after I received payment (PayPal or Money Transfer only) but the amount of available devices which can be shipped right after orders is limited. So if you want to go with a Smartphone now you should hurry up, otherwise the waiting list is growing again. Also I was asked often if the PPCW.Net i-Mate is SIM free which it is so normally you can use any GSM SIM card from any carrier.
