FIRST HAND: The PPCW.Net i-Mate Phone Edition and Smartphone in N.-America
Posted by Arne Hess - at 15:57 CET under 09 - Thoughts

Many of you who are interested in buying one of the devices above from me sent me E-Mails in the past if either the one or the other can be used in North America and for sure it's a good question. Who want to spend 700 US$ just to figure out it isn't working.
So I used the opportunity, when I was in Canada over the weekend to check if my personal devices really works and I completely trusted in them and left any other triband handsets at home since both are claimed as triband! ;-)

FIRST HAND: Updated Bluetooth experiences with the HTC Voyager
Posted by Arne Hess - at 12:43 CET under 09 - Thoughts

Last Friday I've reported about my first Bluetooth experiences with the HTC Voyager and two facts I've highlighted: that I wasn't able to bond the Smartphone with my Bluetooth headset and that I wasn't able to connect to GPRS via Bluetooth from my Pocket PC.
As I said the 2003 ROM I have on my Voyager is still not the final one and therefore it might not working proper with all planned functionalities, therefore I'm still not able to dial into GPRS but mea culpa - I was wrong with the headset!

ABROAD: Preparing for Toronto
Posted by Arne Hess - at 11:04 CET under 09 - Thoughts

I'm currently preparing for a business trip to Toronto, Canada (more about that later) and it's fascinating how the behavior to prepare for trips has changed over the past years.

Since 01. February 1993 I own GSM phones and well, since these days I'm always checking about International Roaming and coverage. Before I owned a cellphone I've checked for some pocket money and my passport only. However - now, in the 21st century, almost the whole world is covered by GSM but I'm continue to check details about the country I'm visiting and it becomes more and more to make sure about. 8O

BEING MOBILE: Hello from sunny Boracay! Part 2
Posted by Carlo Guerrero - at 09:52 CET under 09 - Thoughts

I'm spending the last few hours of my Boracay trip with the Eten P300. As you know the P300 comes with a built-in camera, while positioned oddly on the front face of the device, the built-in camera should work well for video conferencing.

BEING MOBILE: Hello from sunny Boracay!
Posted by Carlo Guerrero - at 14:29 CET under 09 - Thoughts

Here I am once again finding myself away from the city. This time I'm in Boracay Island, Aklan, here in the Philippines. So what's so great about this trip? I can enjoy the white sand and the warm sun. But the best part of it is I can easily share this experience with you while I'm right here in sunny Boracay! Yes. That's what being mobile is all about.

FIRST HAND: Bluetooth experiences with the HTC Voyager aka Orange SPV E200
Posted by Arne Hess - at 14:20 CET under 09 - Thoughts

Half of the week I was testing the HTC Voyager now and here is my first experience I've collected with the Bluetooth capabilities.

Most important for me were the tests how it collaborates with my Bluetooth enabled Pocket PC (HP iPAQ H5400 with Windows Mobile 2003), with my Notebook using a Anycom Bluetooth PC card and my Jabra Bluetooth headset.

It's important to know that the current ROM on the PPCW.Net i-Mate Smartphone2 isn't the final i-Mate ROM but a HTC/Microsoft development edition. So everything I'm writing about here might change/improves for the final shipping ROM! changed/improved for the final shipping ROM!
