|
|
Posted by Arne Hess - at 10:03 CET under 01 - General News
|
Peter Near, a Windows Media Center Edition MVP recently reviewed the the Portable
Media Center - in this case the Creative Zen PMC and if you want to learn more
about the concept in general and the Zen in detail, you should give his review a
visit:
I've been testing the Creative Zen Portable Media Center (PMC) for about
a month now under my own "real world" conditions. I am a traveling software
account manager, so I spend a lot of time on trains and planes. I
anticipated awhile back that PMC would fit the bill for a road warrior like myself, and by most accounts I was right.

STANDARDIZATION: ICANN approved the sponsored Top Level Domain ".mobi"
|
|
Posted by Arne Hess - at 20:49 CET under 01 - General News
|
Do you remember my previous article from earlier this year about the new ".mobi" Top Level Domain:
Leading companies from the mobile industry have signed a memorandum of understanding to apply for a mobile Top Level Domain (&"mobile TLD") from the Internet Corp. for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) during the current application round, which closes March 15. If the application is successful and the mobile TLD is granted by ICANN, the industry leaders have agreed to form a new joint venture to manage the mobile TLD. A mobile TLD would be a key step in bridging the world of mobility and the Internet to the benefit of customers and the entire mobile industry.

POSTPONED: T-Mobile USA is delaying 3G until 2007
|
|
Posted by Arne Hess - at 17:59 CET under 01 - General News
|
T-Mobile USA confirmed today that there are no plans of launching it's high-speed 3G/UMTS
wireless service within the next two years, mainly because they just don't have
the spectrum for it right now.
So basically T-Mobile subscribers will have
wait until 2007 if they want 3G, but it's unlikely that a lot of them will wait
that long, especially since other nation-wide carriers are more proactive in
building up their 3G networks.
