UPDATE: T-Mobile Germany now offers BlackBerry support for the MDA III
Posted by Arne Hess - at 13:28 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

In addition to the MDA II, T-Mobile is offering another multimedia device in the shape of the MDA III that supports the BlackBerry e-mail push service. Additional models will be launched in the near future. As with a BlackBerry handheld, e mails are also received automatically in real time on the MDAs while attachments such as Word files, Excel spreadsheets or PowerPoint presentations can also be displayed. Corporate customers with their own e mail server can integrate the MDA III just like a BlackBerry handheld into the BlackBerry Solution. Additional functions such as automatic calendar synchronization and mobile access to the corporate address book are also supported. And, of course, residential customers who have set up their e-mail access with a provider such as T-Online for instance can also use the MDA III with the e-mail push service.

THOUGHT: How lost do you feel without your mobile device/phone?
Posted by Arne Hess - at 15:48 CET under 09 - Thoughts

It happens from time to time, you are in hurry in the morning and you leave your home but also leaving either your wallet or your Pocket PC (Phone Edition) or mobile phone. If this happens to me, I feel completely naked. It's less a problem if I leave my wallet at home but it becomes a serious problem if I leave my Smartphone. You can always borrow money from friends or co-workers but how to borrow personal communication facilities?
Therefore, everything < 20 minutes I return to pick-up my Smartphone something never happened if i forgot my wallet (at home - for sure not at a restaurant or other public places).

Here's a review of our i-mate JAM 64 MB to 128 MB internal RAM upgrade done by Mark Morrow and posted on HowardForums. It is very well done and thorough. We also took some photos of the process which can help in explaining why the upgrade costs what it does and why it is not user installable.

Posted by Arne Hess - at 21:30 CET under 09 - Thoughts

At CES last week, HP showed their latest Windows Media Center Edition PC development, the HP Digital Entertainment Center z550 series, and it seems my research for the "perfect" Media Center Edition has an end, at least it looks what I expect from a MCE - less PC but more Hi-Fi:

The HP Digital Entertainment Center is an all-in-one digital entertainment solution that goes beyond basic TV recording to provide new viewing and listening experiences. It harnesses the horsepower of a high-performance PC to help personalize and enjoy TV, movies, music, photos and videos, all from one device.

PREVIEW: O2 Germany's Motorola MPx220 Windows Mobile Smartphone
Posted by Arne Hess - at 14:43 CET under 08 - Reviews

It took a while but as it looks now, o2 Germany is close to release its Motorola MPx220 Window Mobile Smartphone, announced late last year.
I had the chance today to play with the latest ROM version and the responsible project manager at o2 Germany explained me why it took a little bit longer then expected.

Most important for o2 Germany is the proper functionality of their Home and Cityzone indication and while I've recognized some problems with the previous ROM versions, the latest one indicates home and city proper now. So this Smartphone is the first one which will supports o2 Germanys Genion service (indication-wise).
