THOUGHT: Where is the Bluetooth Car Kit with Bluetooth A2DP support?
Posted by Arne Hess - at 17:54 CET under 09 - Thoughts

Maybe there is one but if so, I haven't seen it so far. Why does I look for such a Bluetooth car kit and why is is so interesting? Pretty easy - in this case you can use your mobile phone to playback your music files through your car HiFi system.
As you can read in my Samsung SGH-i300 review, the Samsung, as well as other modern mobile phones finally supports the A2DP Bluetooth stereo profile. The Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) is designed to transfer a stereo audio stream like music from an MP3 player to a headset or car radio. It includes mandatory support for low complexity subband codec (SBC) and supports optionally: MPEG-1,2 Audio, MPEG-2,4 AAC and ATRAC (from Wikipedia).

THOUGHT: Get rid of Spam E-Mails on your mobile devices
Posted by Arne Hess - at 13:17 CET under 09 - Thoughts

Either somebody was "way too funny" and added my E-Mail addresses into a couple of porn spam lists or these spam bots fetched my E-Mail addresses from the::unwired or somebody got a virus since also my private E-Mail address is affected which isn't - normally - not public. However, for some weeks now, I have a massive spam problem and up to 9 out of 10 E-Mails I received are hardest porn spam plus the typical Viagra stuff, cheap Rolex, etc! 8O

EXPERIENCE: Back from Mallorca, where I was way too disconnected
Posted by Arne Hess - at 12:33 CET under 09 - Thoughts

If someone is surprised why it was so silent here the last days - I was at a short notice on Mallorca (Spanish Island in the Mediterranean Sea), together with my girlfriend to expand the summer for some days. Since I hadn't had any vacations this summer, at least I wanted to get some more sun before the winter comes to Munich (soon as I fear).
In addition I thought that "as Blogger I can work everywhere, doesn't matter as long as I have an Internet connection". And therefore, we selected a Hotel which praised its in-room Internet connection.

INITIAL INPUT: One step forward and two steps back for Windows Mobile?
Posted by Carlo Guerrero - at 14:20 CET under 09 - Thoughts

Ever since the first pen-entry PDA OS of Microsoft came out, there seems to be something good that keeps on getting dumped everytime a new OS version appears. I pretty much enjoyed the functionality of Windows CE 2.01 on the Palm-size PC way back in 1999 prior to the release of the Pocket PC. It offered a Windows 95/98 feel to it and it gave me great flexibility with the built-in Contacts application. The nice thing was that it synchronized pretty well using ActiveSync too and with Outlook. I used to use Schedule+ for it but with a new Pocket PC at hand, upgrading to Outlook was a no-brainer.

Of course there were so many things which Windows CE 2.01 didn't have which was offered by the newer Windows CE 3.0 based Pocket PCs. There were so many functions which were finally included by default which meant that it was unnecessary to hack the registry to get it to work with a mobile phone via Infrared.

AD-REVENUE: The Music Industry wants its cut of search results and ads
Posted by Arne Hess - at 21:59 CET under 09 - Thoughts

Now that's what I call "creative" but hey, if the music industry would fire all their lawyers and would fill up half of this with new product and business development managers to develop new sales strategies, the music industry would be healthier and users and the rest of the industry would has half of the stress.
If I read the latest article from Newsweek, I'm becoming more and more annoyed about the music industry and yes, I'm also speechless:

INITIAL INPUT: Unwired and Disconnected - literally
Posted by Carlo Guerrero - at 11:57 CET under 09 - Thoughts

That is basically what happened to me. For a little more than a couple of months, I've been practially disconnected from the Internet and thus have been definitely unwired! My best connection has been GPRS and that in itself is definitely a pathetic way of connecting to the Internet especially if you're intention is to update a webpage or add an entry in a blog.

Email has been my best friend and the occasional browsing with a Pocket PC on every imaginable hotspot available was basically my way of life for the past couple of months. I've intended to put more entries into this site but the amount of time I've had this couple of months plus the lack of a decent connection has prevented me from doing so.

THOUGHT: Why is a Java based MSN Messenger client way more powerful than Windows Mobile's?
Posted by Arne Hess - at 20:42 CET under 09 - Thoughts

One of the most used Windows Mobile application - I think - is Microsoft's Pocket MSN which was so far included in every Windows Mobile device (but changed with the release of Windows Mobile 5.0 where you can not sing in that easy anymore, if your carrier hasn't included it as standard application).
Anyway, the Windows Mobile Pocket MSN is so 90's since it doesn't support anything else then pure text messaging. Nothing fancy like file transfer, VoIP, video conferencing and even not the basic features like smiles!
