LEAKED: Final T-Mobile Dash Windows Mobile 6 Upgrade slipped to the Web
Posted by Arne Hess - at 11:31 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Back in February, during the 3GSM World Congress, T-Mobile US officially announced that it will provide a free Windows Mobile 6 upgrade for its best selling Windows Mobile Smartphone - the T-Mobile Dash and over the weekend, it looks like the final version (without any Beta notifications, etc.) leaked to the Internet. Also it is rumored/expected to be released officially on May 4th (yep - that's this week already so better keep an eye on the T-Mobile US download site), the guys from gadgetsonthego.net gave the ROM a shot already and it seems they are satisfied with what they have seen to far:

Well, looks like you are not alone as somebody has started an online petition (have online petitions ever worked for anything? ) and asks for your "signature":

CLEARANCE: T-Mobile Wing passed the FCC
Posted by Arne Hess - at 15:37 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Looks like the - as we knew it so far - recently unveiled "HTC Wing" is close to be released by T-Mobile U.S. soon. At least the device recently cleared the FCC.
As mentioned earlier, the T-Mobile Wing looks pretty much like a HTC Herald, while the ID is slightly changed. However, the specs seems to stay the same - including the semi slide-out keyboard, quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi b/g and the 2 megapixel camera. UMTS is left which makes sense since T-Mobile's UMTS network isn't commercially available yet and works on different frequencies anyway:

UTILITY: Spb Software House releases Spb Phone Suite for Windows Mobile Pocket PC
Posted by Arne Hess - at 15:07 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Spb Software House today unveiled the release of its brand new Spb Phone Suite, a collection of all the main phone features you've been missing on your Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition device.
The number of Windows Mobile devices with phone functionality is growing every day. Almost every Windows Mobile 6 device recently announced includes phone functionality. However, Windows Mobile Professional is still not a perfect platform for phone devices which still keeps me away to use my Pocket PCs as my main mobile phone (but rather prefer Smartphones/Standard devices) by lacking such cornerstone phone features as profiles, call filtering and missed call notifications.

Spb Phone Suite should close some of these gaps by improving the Pocket PC phone functionalities:

As announced earlier this year during the CeBIT, O2 Germany is ready to release its first Windows Mobile 6 smartphone next week, starting from May 1st - the O2 Xda terra aka HTC Herald. Not that the Xda terra is - hardware-wise - anything new (since it is based on HTC'S Herald reference design), but it's O2 Germany's first available Windows Mobile 6 Pocket PC Phone Edition (with Windows Mobile 6 known as Professional smartphone) and the first available Windows Mobile 6 PDA in the market anyway.
Features stay unchanged to the original Windows Mobile 5 Herald and therefore O2's version is also featuring the semi-sliding keyboard, quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as WiFi b/g and Bluetooth 2.0. Powered by a TI OMAP 850 at 200 MHz, the terra includes 64 MB RAM and 128 MB ROM which can be extended with microSD memory cards:

Not sure when and why Motorola renamed the Motorola Q q9 but how Kris Kumar from Smartphone Thoughts found out, Motorola's UMTS/HSDPA Q-version got a new name and is now  called MOTO Q 9h. Maybe the h indicates hSDPA?
All the features, including QWERTY keyboard, quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE, HSDPA up to 3.6 Mbps Bluetooth 2.0 including A2DP and AVRCP as well as the integrated 2.0 megapixel camera with digital zoom and LED photo indicator light, seems to stay the same - it's just the name:

SPECULATION: Quanta may be developing a Windows Mobile smartphone for Dell
Posted by Arne Hess - at 10:54 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Is Dell's earlier announcement to leave the PDA market already kind of obsolete because Dell might come back with a smartphone later this year? Could be, since DigiTimes reports today, that Quanta Computer (which is also manufacturing the O2 Xda Atom-line) is developing a smartphone for Dell and the new model is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of this year.
DigiTimes sources claimed, that the Dell PDA handset project - codenamed "Fly" - will develop a model using the Windows Mobile 6 Professional platform (formerly known as Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition so it's a PDA with touch screen and inbuilt WAN connectivity) and supporting HSDPA. It probably will feature a QWERTY keyboard, though feature details have yet to be determined, the sources said.

Posted by Arne Hess - at 09:23 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

T-Mobile (USA) recently pulled its MDA Windows Mobile Pocket PC (aka the HTC Wizard) off of it's website but according to "MyMobile911" this doesn't mean that T-Mobile US is leaving the Windows Mobile space as well (like Dell) but the MDA will face a replacement by the "T-Mobile Wing" which is - according to MyMobile911 - based on the HTC Atlas.
However, for me it looks more like a new ID for the HTC Herald (which will also get a Windows Mobile 6 upgrade) and also the specs are looking pretty similar:
