ANNOUNCED: T-Mobile MDA Touch available from July
Posted by Arne Hess - at 14:23 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Here we go, T-Mobile Germany just updated its online shop and added their version of the HTC Touch - which T-Mobile is going to call "T-Mobile MDA Touch" - to the listing.
And now we know which design T-Mobile selected - it's nearly the same as the original HTC Touch design but with slightly modified call buttons (more squarish).
While T-Mobile hasn't revealed any prices yet, the German carrier announced it to be available from July and just says "shortly" (shortly early July or shortly late July?). Well, most likely in the first half of July since sources said, that O2 Germany had a time-limited launch exclusivity for Germany.

UNVEILED: HTC Kaiser shows its face at Microsoft's MEDC 2007 in Berlin
Posted by Arne Hess - at 21:33 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Not yet official announced, Jason Langridge from Microsoft UK spotted the HTC Kaiser on the device bar at Microsoft's MEDC Europe 2007 which is currently happening in Berlin (Germany).
The HTC Kaiser will be the follower of the HTC Hermes (aka HTC TyTN) and sporting Windows Mobile 6 Professional, 3G/HSDPA, GPS and a 3.0 megapixel camera but whom I'm gone tell this since you all know the HTC Kaiser already.
But since it appeared first time publicly now, it cannot take to long anymore that we are going to hear an official announcement from HTC and its partners (most likely T-Mobile).

LINK: MobileBurn.com gives the Motorola MOTO Q9m a first test
Posted by Arne Hess - at 20:11 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

While Motorola and Verizon have yet to officially announce the recently surfaced Motorola MOTO Q9m, MobileBurn.com managed to get their hands on a pre-production unit that is nearly ready for prime time. It is very much like the old Q, just with a better exterior and keyboard, and a new Motorola enhanced Windows Mobile 6 Standard operating system.
MobileBurn.com says it didn't do any hard-core testing on the Q9m yet, but did run it through some basic call tests and battery tests. Call audio quality seems good, but the Q9m's antenna might perform a bit less well than the original's - it's hard to say.

REVEALED: O2 Helen Windows Mobile 6 Professional Smartphone shows its face
Posted by Arne Hess - at 19:42 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Someone at the Arabic Windows Mobile forum "ce4arab.com" had some quality time with a new, so far completely unknown Windows Mobile 6 Professional device and this device already sports an O2 branding. According to the poster of the photos, this device is the new "O2 Helen" (sounds more like the code name rather than the final product name) but it seems to be clear that the O2 Helen is the successor of O2 Stealth.
Unlike the O2 Stealth, which was a 2.5G device, the O2 Helen is a 3G device and sports Windows Mobile 6 Professional, GSEM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS (HSDPA isn't mentioned), WiFi b/g and Bluetooth as well as a FM radio. Still unique for Windows Mobile devices is the slider design which features a phone pad:

UTILITY: ClockOnTop adds a Digital Clock to Windows Mobile Standard Smartphone
Posted by Arne Hess - at 19:24 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Sometimes it's the small application which is the most handy one - like "ClockOnTop" for Windows Mobile Standard smartphones.
ClockOnTop simply adds a digital clock to the top bar (known as the taskbar) of Windows Mobile 5 Smartphones and Windows Mobile 6 Standard devices. As the developer says: "It adds a feature that should have been there by default" and I couldn't agree more. And it even features two versions - a 24-hours digital clock which can changed to a 12-hours format clock as well:

REVEALED: T-Mobile Germany to launch the MDA Vario III within the next months
Posted by Arne Hess - at 18:27 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Not yet announced, in a press release T-Mobile sent out today, the German number one GSM and UMTS carrier unveiled, that its going to launch a HSDPA 3.6-enabled MDA which was called "MDA Vario III" later this year.
While it can be speculated only though it seems reasonable to expect that the MDA Vario III is HTC's Kaiser since the HTC Kaiser is the only yet known follower of of the HTC Hermes (MDA Vario II) an HTC Wizard (MDA Vario), supporting both - HSDPA 3.6 as well as today's announced rollout of HSUPA. Therefore it's most likely that T-Mobile is introducing the HTC Kaiser later this year as T-Mobile MDA Vario III:

The Boy Genius Report got its hands on a brand new, so far only rumored Windows Mobile 6 Standard smartphone from Motorola, the MOTO Q9m - code-named "Nelson", which is the CDMA version of the Motorola MOTO Q9h - Motorola's UMTS version of the original MOTO Q Windows Mobile Smartphone.
Sharing nearly the same design, the Verizon branded MOTO Q9m brings back the original MOTO Q jog wheel (which the Q9h misses) and a regular mini USB port but sports a 1.3 megapixel camera only:

ANNOUNCED: i-mate unveils the i-mate JAMA Pocket PC Phone Edition
Posted by Arne Hess - at 17:27 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Since the 3GSM World Congress it was pretty quiet around i-mate, previously the number one Windows Mobile phones specialist, and what i-mate released yesterday cannot keep the expectations the company has given with the announcement of its Ultimate series.
i-mate yesterday announced the launch of a pretty basic Pocket PC Phone Edition - the i-mate JAMA. And indeed - it's a Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition - not a Windows Mobile Professional smartphone since the JAMA is sporting Windows Mobile 5.0 only. But that's not the only feature it misses.

CAMPAIGN: HTC launches Viral Marketing campaign for the HTC Touch
Posted by Arne Hess - at 15:56 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Looks like the time, where HTC was just another Taiwanese ODM - manufacturing devices for others, is definitely gone. Not only Chief Executive Officer Peter Chou said this morning that non-ODM phones (therefore devices sold under the HTC brand name) now account for more than 70 percent of the company's sales, now HTC takes it to the next level of marketing.
Was Windows Mobile so far something for geeks and gadget lovers, and HTC as brand name was known by insiders only, the Taiwanese ODM device manufacture/brand now launched another viral marketing campaign.

Following HTC's earlier announcement to rollout the HTC Touch in Asia as well, HTC also said on Tuesday that it will launch its Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 Professional-based smartphone, the HTC Touch in the United States by the end of the year (which is quite opposite to Apple's iPhone launch strategy where the iPhone is launched first in the US end of this month followed by Europe end of this year).
The company's second-half U.S. launch for its newly released HTC Touch phone follows the recent release for the model in Britain and across Europe, said Chief Executive Officer Peter Chou.

Posted by Arne Hess - at 22:23 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Basically nothing is known about this device, except that it is white, has a silver Vodafone logo bellow the screen and features the typical red/grey Vodafone skin.
Oh, and it seems to be a Windows Mobile Standard smartphone (previously known as Windows Mobile Smartphone - the one without a touchscreen) which would be something totally new and different for Palm since Palm so far only manufactured PDAs and Smartphones with touch screens (aka Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone Editions and for sure Palms own based OS):

UNVEILED: O2 Germany unveils more O2 Xda nova details [UPDATE]
Posted by Arne Hess - at 16:59 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Just in time with HTC's HTC Touch announcement, also O2 Germany unveiled a little bit more about the O2 Xda nova - which was announced back in March already. Nevertheless, so far the German carrier hasn't given a single photo - until earlier this week - when O2 Germany released it's latest shop flyer (valid from June 1st to June 14th). And here we go - this is the O2 Xda nova - which is definitely the HTC Elf.
O2 Germany is mentioning a QVGA display with 65k colors only - not a single word about HTC's new TouchFLO technology (which the Taiwanese ODM unveiled today) so I'm not sure if the Xda nova will includes it (but in my humble opinion it will):
