BLUNDER: Yahoo! Go 2.0 lists the unannounced HTC S730 as supported Smartphone [UPDATE]
Posted by Arne Hess - at 16:49 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

It's nothing new that HTC will (sooner or later) release a UMTS-enabled version of the HTC Vox (aka the HTC 710) and it's expected to be released as the HTC S730 aka HTC Wings, featuring Windows Mobile 6 Standard, GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA and as well as Bluetooth and WiFi. But it makes me a kind of wonder, that a device, which just leaked from the roadmap yet (but AFAIK doesn't leaked with a photo so far) made it to Yahoo!'s Yahoo! Go 2.0 list of supported devices already!? And even better - Yahoo!, which signed a strategic partnership with HTC earlier this year, links back to HTC as well and who knows, maybe Yahoo! knows more already - thanks to the strategic partnership with HTC:

WORKAROUND: Give your Windows Mobile device the Bluetooth DUN feature back
Posted by Arne Hess - at 12:34 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

With the introduction of AKU 3 for Windows Mobile 5.0, Microsoft replaced the Bluetooth Dial-up Networking (DUN) feature with Bluetooth PAN. Unfortunately Microsoft didn't opted to add Bluetooth PAN (on Windows Mobile devices seen as "Internet Sharing") in addition but it's the only way to use a Windows Mobile device as a "wireless modem" for Notebooks and PDAs.
While Internet Sharing has its advantages, in my humble opinion it also has is disadvantages, especially for power users. For instance, you cannot leave your device in your pocket and initiating the connection from your Notebook but you have to initiate the connection from the Windows Mobile device itself.

UPDATE: Palm releases Treo 700w and Treo 700wx Windows Mobile 5.0 updates
Posted by Arne Hess - at 17:16 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Not that these updates are Windows Mobile6 upgrades, Palm recently released two ROM updates for its Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Phone Edition smartphones.
These updates are designed for both, the Palm Treo 700w and the Palm Treo 700wx running on the Verizon Wireless network. This will update the Pocket PC Phone Edition software to the latest release, version 1.22.
While the update adds some new features to the Treo 700w, it's just a bug-fix for the Treo 700wx and doesn't adds anything important:

RUMOR: Motorola to put Windows Mobile on its Ming PDA phone?
Posted by Arne Hess - at 11:34 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

The Boy Genius Report got the word that Motorola plans to upgrade its "Motorola Ming" A1200 to Windows Mobile. Should this be the return of the Pocket PC platform after Motorola hadn't had much luck with the MPx Pocket PC Phone Edition which was innovative but never (really) released? In a weird twist of fate, the new Ming won't run the JUIX operating system anymore, but will in fact run Windows Mobile. The reason for the change, as BGR has been told, is that JUIX can not support 3G right now. Motorola has barely even started development on it actually.
