UPGRADE: HTC and AT&T releases Windows Mobile 6 Upgrade for the AT&T 8525

Ladies and Gentlemen, please charge your batteries and free up a USB port on your PC. HTC America just announced that it will provide a Windows Mobile 6 Professional ROM upgrade for the AT&T 8525 from tomorrow, November 1, 2007 which is however available for download already.
This ROM update is intended for the AT&T 8525 only and users should not load or attempt to load this version on any other device (aka other HTC Hermes) as it may cause serious issues/damage.
Also note, that at this time, Good Mobile Messaging is not supported on an upgraded AT&T 8525 anymore. If you use Good Mobile Messaging, better not upgrade your device at this time.

During a yesterday's global launch event in London, Samsung officially announced the Samsung SGH-i780 Windows Mobile 6 Professional smartphone, we've seen unveiled during the Gitex last month already. Featuring a touchscreen in addition to the QWERTY keyboard, the i780 also features a - what Samsung calls - "optical joystick", which should allow easy navigation. RUMOR: Is this the new Palm Treo 800w Windows Mobile Pocket PC?

Take the following info with a necessary grain of salt since there is no further confirmation. But over at the treocentral.com forums, a user has posted a rendering of a device he calls the Palm Treo 800w and which he got it from a solutions engineer at Sprint (which means the Treo 800w would be a CDMA device).
Doesn't looks to bad, if you ask me. Either it's true and in this case Palm did a good job or it's a fake which means Palm should hire the artist for its next like of Windows Mobile smartphones:

I'm not sure how good or useful this HTC TouchFLO copy-cat works on standard touchscreen devices but MobilityFlow.com today announced Touch Commander, a - what they called it - "unique application" (even it looks for me like a copy of HTC's previously mentioned TouchFLO user interface) for controlling PDA and smartphones by recognizing and responding to the touch and sweep of a finger across the screen. With Touch Commander in place, you get a one-touch access to phone calls, E-Mails, SMS messages, calendar, appointments, applications and other commonly used content.

UNVEILED: The HTC Polaris will be called HTC Touch Cruise

I think it's safe to say the cat is out of the bag now. According to Dutch website pocketinfo.nl, the HTC smartphone, we knew so far under its codename "HTC Polaris", will hit the shops as "HTC Touch Cruise" and pocketinfo.net also got the specs confirmed. Therefore, the HTC Polaris will sports Windows Mobile 6 Professional and features a Qualcomm MSM7200 CPU at 400 MHz. Furthermore, the Polaris will supports quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as triband UMTS/HSDPA and even HSUPA and for sure Bluetooth 2.0 and WiFi b/g. The device is baked-up with 128 MB of RAM and 256 MB of ROM and the 2.8" touchscreen supports QVGA. On the back, we have - as seen before already - a 3 megapixel camera (which is said to be auto focus) plus the secondary 0.3 megapixel camera on the front.

UNVEILED: Samsung's SGH-i616 and SGH-i617 - Twins separated at Birth?

We have read about Samsung SGH-i617 earlier this month and it looks like the SGH-i617 is the expected BlackJack II. However, according to rumors, the BlackJack II is again a North American version only (like the previously released SGH-i607/BlackJack, since unconfirmed radio specs are told to be GSM 850/1900 and WCDMA 850/1900 only which means this device is useless outside North America.
Nevertheless, the beloved Bluetooth SIG has unveiled now, that there is another Samsung smartphone in the pipeline which is called the Samsung SGH-i616 and according to the Bluetooth SIG, both devices refer to the same platform:

LEAKED: O2 Germany unveils a new unknown Windows Mobile Xda Pocket PC Phone

Looks like somebody at O2 Germany put the wrong photo on the server. Instead of showing an enlarged photo of the soon to be released Xda star, O2 unveiled a so far unknown and unannounced Xda which looks like O2's version of the (also not yet announced) HTC Polaris. So it seems O2 Germany is working on a follower of its Xda orbit (aka HTC Artemis), a Windows Mobile 6 Professional smartphone which sports inbuilt GPS.
The new Xda is expected to feature Windows Mobile 6 Professional and GSM but also UMTS (most likely also HSDPA), Bluetooth and WiFi and the 3 megapixel camera seems to be confirmed now as well as the UMTS-typical front facing camera for video telephony (which confirms UMTS somehow):

Following the earlier released i-mate JAMA, the Dubai based Windows Mobile specialist recently unveiled the i-mate JAMA 101 Windows Mobile 6 Professional smartphone. AVAILABILITY: Dummies of Pantech's C810 arriving at AT&T Stores

Spotted on Amazon before, Engadget Mobile received some information that the AT&T stores are starting to get dummy versions of the new Pantech Duo C810 Windows Mobile 6 Standard smartphone which can only mean that the release is coming soon.
While the C810 isn't available from AT&T's online shop, it might be worth to ask your local store for estimated time of arrival. I think the Pantech C810 is a quite interesting concept, with it's dual slide mechanism for a traditional phone keypad and an additional slide-out QWERTY keyboard, combining best of both worlds - so far seen on the HTC S710 and S730 only:

LEAKED: Motorola works on a Consumer-friendly MOTO Q9h follower [UPDATE]

During a Motorola presentation yesterday in Amsterdam, Motorola also accidently leaked four new devices which includes one new Windows Mobile smartphones. Dutch site "Mobile Phone Helpdesk" was able to snap photos of these devices when they were shown at the presentation. The accidentally leaked Windows Mobile smartphone is code-named "Genghis" and according to Mobile Phone Helpdesk, the Motorola Genghis is not directly made for the businessman but more for those who appreciate the advantages of a business device (with a QWERTY thumb-keyboard) without too much hustle and bustle.

UPGRADE: Windows Mobile 6 ROM for Samsung SGH-i600 coming to South-East Asia soon

Rolled-out initially in Europe, Samsung Singapore confirmed in a statement, that the long awaited Windows Mobile 6 upgrade for the Samsung SGH-i600 is finally coming to South-East Asia as well.
Starting in Singapore, i600 Singaporean customers can can bring their smartphones to the Samsung service center at "Plaza Singapura" for a free software upgrade from October 13. So Singaporean i600 customers cannot perform the upgrade on their own as European customers can do (if available for your country).

UNVEILED: Samsung SGH-i617 aka BlackJack II shows its face

Nobody is yet sure what's new for the Samsung SGH-i617 the FCC unveiled earlier but at least we got a couple of high resolution photos now.
Confirmed seems to be Windows Mobile 6 Standard as well as an upgraded 2 megapixel camera but other features like supported GSM and UMTS bands are still in the dust.
Sure, this refresh looks good but hopefully the refresh also includes quadband GSM, triband UMTS with a 3.6 Mbps upgraded HSDPA revision as well as WiFi support which the European BlackJack I had built-in already:

REVEALED: FCC unveils the Samsung SGH-i617 and the Bluetooth SIG confirms it

The beloved FCC, which is always good to unveil unannounced devices just revealed the Samsung SGH-i617 which is most likely a Windows Mobile smartphone and seems to be the follower of the Samsung SGH-i60x. While no photos are available yet, the outline drawing looks quite similar to the Samsung SGH-i60x aka the Samsung BlackJack.
According to the SAR report, the i617 supports at least HSDPA at 850 and 1900 MHz but the Bluetooth SIG unveiled that the device might support even more GSM and UMTS bands since it claims that the device will has a "Geographic Availability: Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, South America":

Pocket PC Dubai reports today about a new TechFaith Wireless Windows Mobile smartphone which is quite unique (but it seems to become a new trend) by supporting two SIM cards in one device. According to Pocket PC Dubai, the new device, which is codenamed "Cynthia", will sports Windows Mobile 6 Professional, supports quad- or triband GSM/GPRS/EDGE (depending on the CPU) as well as Bluetooth 2.0, a 2 megapixel camera and 64 MB/256 MB ROM (again depending on the CPU version). What makes me kind of wonder is the time-line which says "working samples ready in April and release in July". Hey, we have October already and not a single indication of the Cynthia on the horizon:

UNVEILED: HTC Polaris GPS Windows Mobile Smartphone shows its face

Time is gone since we've heard about the HTC Polaris last time and unlike expected, HTC hasn't unveiled it during its last week's press events. However, someone in Portugal managed to got his hands on one and was even able to make some photos (as far as I know these are the first real photos of the Polaris).
The HTC Polaris is the UMTS follower of the HTC P3300 (HTC Artemis) and expected to feature Windows Mobile 6 Professional, GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSDPA, WiFi b/g and Bluetooth as well as a FM radio and for sure A-GPS (chipset yet unknown):

AVAILABLE: HTC releases Windows Mobile 6 Upgrade for the HTC P3300

HTC just released another Windows Mobile 6 ROM upgrade, this time the earlier confirmed upgrade for the HTC P3300.
Not too much is known about the enhancements (others than Windows Mobile 6 Professional) since HTC hasn't announced it so far but as you can see here, it's definitely available from the "My Downloads" section of HTC eClub.
As with all recent HTC Windows Mobile 6 upgrades, the download needs a registration to HTC eClub which is easy and completely free for HTC customers. So if you aren't already a member, you need to sign up to get your HTC P3300 ROM upgrade.

Following yesterday's announcement of the HTC Touch Dual, today - during the German HTC press release - O2 Germany announced the Windows Mobile 6 Professional based Xda star which is O2 Germany's version of the HTC Touch Dual. Like the Touch Dual, the Xda star is the 3G slider version of O2's HTC Touch version, the Xda nova and following the Xda nova design, the Xda star features its own slightly different design which is based on the Xda nova "reference design". CONFIRMED: Asus P750 Windows Mobile Smartphone becomes somewhat official

Finally we have a release date for the Asus P750, you remember, the Windows Mobile 6 Professional smartphone you've seen on the::unwired first back in late July. According to CNet, the P750 will be available in Singapore and other Asian countries from December while no further information about a European release are given yet.
Furthermore CNet got an official image and full specifications now and as posted on the::unwired before, the P750 will features HSDPA, in addition to built-in GPS and the QVGA display. However, Asus will give 64 MB of RAM only, not the previously mentioned 128 MB.
