UNVEILED: Asus M930W Windows Mobile Communicator look-alike shows its face [UPDATE]
Posted by Arne Hess - at 11:56 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

French website GPSAndCo.com has informed us that they got information about a new, so far unknown Asus smartphone called M930W. This Windows Mobile 6 Nokia E90 look-alike smartphone seems to run, according to the screenshots (which could be marketing fakes anyway), Windows Mobile 6 Standard (non-touchscreen) instead of Windows Mobile 6 Professional (touchscreen) while GPSAndCo.com speaks about Windows Mobile 6 Professional anyway. Other features, according to GPSAndCo.com, are a Marvel PXA270M CPU at 520 MHz, triband GSM/GPRS/EDGE at 900/1800/1900 MHz, singleband UMTS/HSDPA at 2100 MHz up 3.6 Mbps, WiFi b/g and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR:

Posted by Arne Hess - at 19:12 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

While Vodafone canceled the 920 Windows Mobile 6 Standard smartphone, it seems Europe's #1 carrier sticks on the Samsung SGH-i640 which Vodafone announced as a Christmas device before as well. The i640, which appeared now on Vodafone UK's coming soon section of devices, is the same Windows Mobile 6 Standard smartphone as the SGH-i620, except it's sporting a silver, Vodafone exclusive design. Other features are triband GSM/GPRS/EDGE, singleband UMTS/HSDPA up to 3.6 Mbps and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR but no WiFi. APPROVAL: Bluetooth SIG approves the HTC Neon 200 - an indication for a UMTS Touch?
Posted by Arne Hess - at 17:31 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

The HTC Neon was recently unveiled by the FCC, which is most likely a Windows Mobile Professional smartphone with touchscreen and now the Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group) lists the HTC Neon too. However unlike the FCC, which approved the Neon 100, the Bluetooth SIG got the Neon 200 for testing - which is a clear indication that at least 2 different designs exists. As always, the Bluetooth SIG isn't unveiling too much about the device features except that it is supporting Bluetooth 2.0+EDR but if you have a closer look on the FCC label, you might notice that the device seems to feature a front facing camera, right from the speaker as the HTC Touch Dual does too.

CANCELED: Vodafone (Germany) has no further plans to release the Vodafone 920
Posted by Arne Hess - at 11:47 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Not that we ever met the Vodafone 920, Vodafone's self-branded Windows Mobile 6 Standard smartphone, developed and manufactured by HTC, which was announced back in September as a Christmas device. And if you wonder now where the Vodafone 920 is - so close to Christmas - the answer is easy: Vodafone canceled it (for now). Vodafone Germany confirmed this today in an E-Mail to us.
That's too bad since I had the hope (and according to the only photo we've ever seen there were real chances) that the Vodafone 920 might be a kind of UMTS version of the T-Mobile Shadow.

UNVEILED: LG KS20 Windows Mobile Smartphone to hit the USA as LG MS25
Posted by Arne Hess - at 09:33 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

LG's KS20 Windows Mobile 6 Professional smartphone (see our previous review here) caught some attraction since it is a stylish Prada phone look-alike Windows Mobile Pocket PC phone, featuring GSM/HSDPA, Bluetooth and Wifi.
And wow, as the FCC recently unveiled, it looks like LG is cooking a U.S. version with adopted support for North American frequencies as well. According to the FCC, GSM/EDGE at 850/1900 MHz is confirmed as well as Bluetooth and the user manual also mentions WiFi. However, neither tested/certified nor confirmed is UMTS or HSDPA, even if this is one of the highlights of the European version.

Posted by Arne Hess - at 00:02 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Following Toshiba's HTC Hermes competitor, the Toshiba Portégé G900 (see our review here), Toshiba is now preparing for a HTC Universal follower, HTC itself never released, Toshiba calls the Portégé G910 and G920. Recently popped-up at the FCC, this clamshell Windows Mobile 6 Professional smartphone could become a best-seller since HTC never released a follower of its Universal.
Featuring triband GSM/GPRS/UMTS and UMTS/HSDPA, the G9x0 seems to be designed for EMEA and APAC markets only. Furthermore the device is expected to feature Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi b/g and a WVGA screen (as we've heard from trustworthy sources):

LINK: CNet Asia got its hands on a E-Ten Glofiish X650 Windows Mobile Phone
Posted by Arne Hess - at 14:30 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

First we've heard about E-Ten latest Glofiish Pocket PC Phone, the X650, late last month and it seemed to be a slightly updated version of the X600. Now, the guys from CNet Asia got their hands on a working unit and unveiled what the FM radio is good for. Instead of being used as a TMC receiver for GPS navigation, it can be used to transmit your music from the device to a radio close to you (similar to the Apple iPod docks). Now that's a good idea a FM transmitter can be used for and quite unique so far for Windows Mobile devices. Furthermore it's now confirmed that the Glofiish X650 will also sports a 2 megapixel autofocus camera. Other features, like Windows Mobile 6 Professional, the VGA screen, quadband GSM/GPRS, WiFi and Bluetooth stays unchanged to the X600:

VERSIONS: No 20-Keys SureType HTC Touch Dual for the UK?
Posted by Arne Hess - at 16:35 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Paul O'Brien from MoDaCo got the information that HTC's 20-keys SureType-like Touch Dual will not be launched in the UK but the UK (maybe the rest of Europe as well?) will get the 10-keys phone pad-like version only. While it was already known that Orange UK as well as T-Mobile UK decided to launch the 10-keys version in the UK only, it's new to us now that also HTC decided to launch the 10-keys version only; not giving customers the chance to chose between the 10-keys version (pictured bellow right) and the 20-keys version (pictured bellow left):
