EXCLUSIVE: T-Mobile confirms MDA Vario IV Specs and unveils more Information [UPDATE]

T-Mobile Germany just sent in the official specs-sheet for the recently unveiled T-Mobile MDA Vario IV and therefore the speculation is over now. Based on HTC's Raphael reference design, the Vario IV features Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. It's powered by a Qualcomm MSM 7200 CPU at 528 MHz and supports triband GSM/GPRS/EDGE (900/1800/1900 MHz), dualband UMTS/HSDPA (850/2100 MHz) up to 7.2 Mbps as well as Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, WiFi b/g and GPS (an FM radio isn't mentioned). The MDA Vario IV is backed up by 256 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM which is expandable through microSD memory cards. Furthermore, which differentiates the MDA Vario IV (HTC Raphael) from the MDA compact IV (HTC Touch Diamond), the Vario IV features a 5-rows slide-out QWERTZ/Y keyboard:

OFFICIAL: T-Mobile Germany announces the MDA Vario IV Windows Mobile Smartphone

Following the earlier news that T-Mobile unveiled the HTC Raphael, it's now official that, during an international press conference in Munich, T-Mobile and HTC jointly announced the HTC Raphael as the MDA Vario IV. Coming in late summer 2008, the MDA Vario IV T-Mobile will ensure even more convenience in the mobile office. A special feature of the organizer for use on the move is the large, slide-out complete QWERTY keyboard. Just like a PC keyboard, it has five rows of keys, making it best in class in terms of mobile devices. Like the MDA compact IV, the new MDA Vario IV also offers convenient mobile Internet access using HSDPA up to 7.2 Mbps, video telephony and a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera as well as integrated GPS module round off the device's top features.

Dutch Mobile Phone Helpdesk got new information and a photo of the yet to be announced HTC Raphael which Mobile Phone Helpdesk shows in the T-Mobile design. According to the information, T-Mobile will launch the Raphael later this year in Europe as "T-Mobile MDA Vario IV". Feature-wise, the HTC Raphael - which is expected to be announced by HTC as the "HTC Touch Pro" - is quite similar to HTC's Touch Diamond except that it features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard which makes it the follower of the HTC TyTN II. Other features includes Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, triband GSM/GPRS/EDGE at 900/1800/1900 MHz, UMTS/HSDPA (and most likely HSUPA), Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, WiFi b/g, GPS and an FM radio:

SPECS: Sony Ericsson updates Xperia X1 White Paper

Sony Ericsson just released an update of it's Xperia X1 white paper and unveils some interesting facts. For instance, Sony Ericsson will release two different Xperia X1 version, the X1a and the X1i which both features quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE but differentiates in supported UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA bands. The X1a is going to support triband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA at 850/1900/2100 MHz while the X1i is going to support UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA at 900/1900/2100 MHz. However, both versions will feature HSDPA downloads up to 7.2 Mbps and and HSUPA uploads up to 2.0 Mbps. Nevertheless, another major difference is the video recording resolution.

UPGRADE: HTC releases Windows Mobile 6.1 Upgrade for the HTC TyTN II

HTC just released the first Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrade which is the expected Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional upgrade for the HTC TyTN II (aka HTC Kaiser). Windows Mobile 6.1 is the latest upgrade for Windows Mobile and it gives you improved usability, messaging and connections features. Windows Mobile 6.1 comes with a host of new and enhanced features including threaded SMS, recipient auto-complete, Direct Push improvements, and enhanced Internet Explorer Mobile, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection setup simplification, etc and more (incl. support for Microsoft's System Center Mobile Device Manager).

UNVEILED: Palm Treo 850 Windows Mobile Smartphone shows its face [UPDATE]

You remember the shots of the Treo 800w which leaked last week? Another week, another Palm leak and this time it's - what The Boy Genius Report calls - the Palm Treo 850. While officially not too much is known about the Treo 850, we have heard that it might be Palm's "Skywriter". The Boy Genius Report has heard that it will feature a 400 MHz CPU and 100 MB of RAM. According to the::unwired information, the Palm Treo 850 is expected to feature quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as triband UMTS/HSDPA, Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS (while neither WiFi or GPS are yet confirmed). Furthermore, as you can see on the photo bellow, the Treo 800w is running Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional smartphone OS:

UNVEILED: E-Ten Glofiish DX900 Dual-SIM Smartphone shows its face

Czech website smartmania got information about an upcoming E-Ten Glofiish Windows Mobile smartphone called the DX900 which is expected to be announced next month in Taipei during the Computex. According to smartmania, the DX900, which looks quite similar to the Glofiish V900, features dual-SIM which means you can operate it with two SIM cards (quite handy for international roaming or mobile data) at the same time. Furthermore the DX900 is expected to run on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and featuring quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as triband UMTS/HSDPA, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, WiFi b/g, GPS (SiRF Star III) and an FM radio:

LEAK: Palm Treo 800w shows its face on the first photo

While the Palm Treo 800w isn't yet official, it seems Palm Infocenter got its hand on the first photo of Palm's next Windows Mobile smartphone. Most likely the Treo 800w will be powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional which makes it a touch screen device and it's expected to feature a 320 x 320 resolution, as used by Samsung for the SGH-i780. Expected to be powered by a 400 MHz CPU and 128 MB RAM and 256 MB ROM it will be Palm's first EVDO REV-A, GPS and WiFi smartphone. Other expected features are Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP and a 2 megapixel camera:

CONFIRMED: O2 Germany announces the launch of O2 Xda diamond Windows Mobile Smartphone [UPDATE]

As expected and unveiled two weeks ago already, O2 Germany today announced the upcoming launch of its HTC Touch Diamond version which O2 will call the "O2 Xda diamond". O2's diamond is also running on Microsoft's recently announced Windows Mobile 6.1 and will feature triband GSM/GPRS/EDGE at 900/1800/1900 MHz as well as dualband UMTS/HSDPA at 900/2100 MHz up to 3.6 Mbps plus HSUPA (even if O2 Germany doesn't have HSUPA in place today). Powered by a Qualcomm CPU at 528 MHz, the Xda diamond also features Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, WiFi b/g, eGPS and a FM radio. LEAK: HTC's new HTC Touch Diamond shows its Faces and Specs

Italian website newsMobile seems to got some further information about HTC's to be announced HTC Touch Diamond and following T-Mobile's first show-off at this years CeBIT and the later grainy photo of HTC's new smartphones, this seems to be legit information.
According to newsMobile, the HTC Touch Diamond (official name still to be confirmed) will features Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (while it's not yet clear if it might be triband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and singleband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA), Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi b/g, eGPS, FM radio and a 2.8" VGA (640x480 pixel) touchscreen:

CONFIRMED: Vodafone is introducing its first two DVB-T mobile phones in May

Following the earlier news, Vodafone Germany now officially confirmed that it will be adding two new DVB-T mobile phone models to its range of mobile phones at the beginning of May 2008.
The LG HB620T and the GIGA-BYTE GSmart t600 both have an integrated DVB-T receiver for viewing all free TV channels in excellent quality and in most areas of Germany. Football fans will be able to watch the EURO 2008 on their mobile phones at no extra cost.
