UNVEILED: Nokia announces the Nokia Lumia 710 - the company's second Windows Phone

Today, at Nokia World, Nokia's annual event for customers, partners and developers, the company also demonstrated its second smartphone in its Windows Phone-based Nokia Lumia range, the Nokia Lumia 710. Running Windows Phone 7.5, the Lumia 710 is powered by a 1.4 GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 single core CPU and supports quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE, triband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA at 900/1900/2100 MHz as well as WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, aGPS and comes with the Windows Phone-typical sensors. The WVGA TFT touchscreen measures 3.7" and the 5 megapixel autofocus camera comes with a supporting flash LED and allows to record 720p HD videos up to 30 fps.

CONNECTIVITY: Bluetooth SIG extends Bluetooth brand - introduces two new Bluetooth smart marks

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) announced yesterday two new brand extensions to its globally recognized logo, in an effort to create consumer awareness around compatibility for new devices implementing Bluetooth v4.0: the Bluetooth Smart Ready trademark and the Bluetooth Smart trademark. Bluetooth Smart Ready devices are phones, tablets, PCs and TVs that sit at the center of a consumer's connected world and implement a Bluetooth v4.0 dual mode radio. Bluetooth Smart devices are sensor-type devices like heart-rate monitors or pedometers that run on button-cell batteries and were built to collect a specific piece of information. Bluetooth Smart devices include only a single-mode low energy Bluetooth v4.0 radio.
