UNCONFIRMED: Does the Nokia Lumia 800 have a Power-on bug?
Posted by Arne Hess - at 12:58 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

I faced this problem over the weekend myself but I've just received reports from other Nokia Lumia 800 users which had the same problem recently. As a matter of fact, my Lumia 800 didn't turn-on last Sunday morning after I turned if off Saturday night! When I switched if off, the battery had around 1/3 of its capacity so it wasn't drained. Nevertheless, nothing helped, doesn't matter how long or hard I pressed the power button. It only came back to live after I connected the device to my PC and Zune kicked-in after a couple of minutes and confirmed with the typical Windows 7 sound that the PC connected to a USB device. Later, the Lumia 800 showed the red battery icon, indicating that the device was charged.

UPDATES: Microsoft and HTC releasing Windows Phone 7.5 updates
Posted by Arne Hess - at 10:33 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Yesterday night, Microsoft and HTC have released Windows Phone 7.5 updates for their Mango OS and devices. While Microsoft's "7.10.7740" release is a general update for all Windows Phones (even the brand new Nokia Lumia 800 has received it and this phone was only launched this week), the "HTC Update for Windows Phone" adds the missing WiFi tethering functionality to the company's first generation Windows Phone 7s. Other than that, the Microsoft update is a bugfix only which fixes an issue related to Microsoft Exchange 2003. With this fix, original messages are now included if the E-Mail is replied or forwarded. Another fix corrects voicemail notification issues.

JAILBREAK: ChevronWP7 is back - somewhat Microsoft supported and not free anymore
Posted by Arne Hess - at 18:02 CET under 02 - Windows Mobile News

Remember when ChevronWP7 hit Windows Phone 7 which allowed to jailbreak Microsoft's latest mobile OS to allow the installation of homebrew apps? Well, not long after ChevronWP7 was released, it was taken down again by Microsoft's request but the developers around ChevronWP7 and Microsoft came together to discuss and work on a solution to make it more official, more Microsoft supported and less jailbreak. After a first Beta, which totally crashed the servers, ChevronWP7 is back again - now called ChevronWP7 Labs - and as the original ChevronWP7 it brings any Windows Phone to a kind of developer status which allows to run homebrew apps - not available from the Windows Phone Marketplace.
