QUICKVIEW: HTC One M9 - The 2015's Hero-Smartphone is an Evolution to the M7 and M8
Posted by Arne Hess - at 16:48 CET under 08 - Reviews

While HTC's brand new and today's announced One M9 is a really important release for HTC, the Taiwanese smartphone specialist tried rather an evolution than a revolution of ithe current line of high-end smartphone series. While the specs all read good, the One M9 (formerly known and code-named as "HTC Hima which stands for "Himalaya") comes with Android 5.0.2/Lollipop, the brand new and enhanced HTC Sense 7, the clear focus was again on design (more about it later). Other high-end specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64 bit octa-core CPU where 4 cores running at up to 2 GHz and the other cores run up to 1.5 GHz. It furthermore supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE at 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, UMTS/HSPA+/HSUPA at 850/900/1900/2100 MHz (varies by region) and 4G/LTE bands 1,3,5,7,8,20,28 or TDD bands 38,40,41 (also varies by region).

QUICKVIEW: Hands-on with the HTC RE "Convenience Camera" for Android and iOS
Posted by Arne Hess - at 22:47 CET under 08 - Reviews

Today's announced HTC RE, which was so far rumored to be HTC's competitor to the GoPro camera, is everything but an action camera. I would call it a "convenience camera" which comes closer to the Flip cameras, some of you might remember. Quite typical for HTC, the RE comes with a stunning yet minimalist cylindrical design, which reminds a little bit on a kitchen sink or inhalator (and with its 96.7 x 26.5 mm, and a weight of 65.5 grams, it's roughly the same size even if it's a little bit heavier). Thanks to this design, the RE is made to be held naturally and comfortably in the palm of a hand and it allows to never worry again about missing a moment by fumbling between modes, as RE's built-in grip sensor instantly activates the camera as it's picked up.

PHOTOVIEW: Microsoft Nokia Lumia 630 Windows Phone 8.1
Posted by Arne Hess - at 15:58 CET under 08 - Reviews

Back in early April, Microsoft's handset division (formerly known as Nokia) announced not only the company's latest budget friendly Windows Phone but also the first available Windows Phone 8.1 - the Nokia Lumia 630. As the model number indicates, the Lumia 630 is a budget friendly entry level smartphone which is nevertheless and interesting device for smartphone and/or Windows Phone newsbies as well as for customers which don't have too high expectations but don't want to miss key features. Therefore is the Lumia 630 powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 400quad-core CPU at 1.2 GHz and while it lacks support of LTE, it supports quadbang GSM/GPRS/EDGE at 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and dualband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA at 900/2100 MHz. Also onboard are Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi /b/g/n at 2.4.

PHOTOVIEW: HTC One mini 2 Android Smartphone with HTC Sense 6
Posted by Arne Hess - at 12:30 CET under 08 - Reviews

Earlier this week, HTC has finally unveiled the HTC One mini 2, the latest addition to its renowned HTC One-family of Android smartphones and the successor of last year's HTC One mini. Running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with HTC Sense 6, the One mini 2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core CPU at 1.2 GHz. It features a compact, yet generous 4.5" 720p HD display. Like the HTC One (M8) and unlike its forerunner, the HTC One mini 2 brings the iconic metal craftsmanship of the M8 to those in search of a "more compact model" - if you call a 4.5" display more compact. In terms of connectivity the One mini 2 is everything but mini by supporting quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE, quadband UMTS/HSPA+ at 850/900/1900/2100 MHz and either quadband (EMEA) or pentaband (Asia) LTE CAT 4. Also onboard are Bluetooth 4.0 LE with aptX and WiFi a/b/g/n at 2.4 and 5 GHz as well as NFC, GPRS and GLONASS support.
