MWC 15: HTC prepares for its Mobile World Congress 15 launch - Sends out Invitation for its "Utopia Event"
Posted by Arne Hess - at 16:58 CET under 01 - General News

As HTC announced today via Twitter and personal invitations, the Taiwanese smartphone specialist is preparing to unveil its 2015 portfolio during this year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. At least it's expected that it will be HTC's next high-end smartphone, following last year's HTC One (M8) which HTC didn't announced during the Mobile World Congress but through its own event in London. Nevertheless, the invitation headline reads "htc - utopia in progress" which is a clear indicator that HTC isn't going to talk about another "bread and butter" phone (as the company did at its last year's Mobile World Congress press event), but about something better and more exiting.

RUMOR: Is Amazon preparing for its European Amazon Fire TV Stick launch?
Posted by Arne Hess - at 16:40 CET under 01 - General News

Being an Amazon Fire TV Stick user, which I imported straight from the U.S. the day Amazon announced it last fall, so far the Fire TV Stick had no real function since Amazon isn't supporting it outside the U.S., with non-American user accounts. Sure you can side-load apps to it (something I did to make it useful), but Amazon prevented access to its VOD library which is included - free of charge - for Amazon Prime customers. However, this changed this week since Amazon seems to have changed a server-side configuration since the company hasn't issued a firmware update. Since this week, German Fire TV Stick customers can see and access the Prime VOD library and can even playback the content their.

COMMERCIALIZATION: EyeEm to Start EyeEm Market - Gives Mobile Photographers the Possibility to Sell their Shots
Posted by Arne Hess - at 12:13 CET under 01 - General News

This has the potential to become something big for mobile photographers. As EyeEm, the mobile photo sharing service from Germany - which is similar to Instagram - announced this morning, it's going to launch the "EyeEm Market" later this spring. Founded back in 2009 and having over 10 million photographers from all over the world, the EyeEm team looked through hundreds of thousands of images and talked to professional image buyers. And now EyeEm believes more than ever in the huge creative potential of its community; as Florian Meissner, Co-Founder & CEO of EyeEm wrote in an E-Mail to the community. Therefore EyeEm will launch later this spring its EyeEm Market, which is said to the world's premier marketplace for real photography.

Microsoft just announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Satya Nadella as the company's new Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors effective immediately. Nadella previously held the position of Executive Vice President of Microsoft's Cloud and Enterprise group. Since joining the company in 1992, Nadella has spearheaded major strategy and technical shifts across the company's portfolio of products and services, most notably the company's move to the cloud and the development of one of the largest cloud infrastructures in the world supporting Bing, Xbox, Office and other services. KICKSTARTER: Able-HD to Kickstart the Able-HD Plus - Lightweight and Paper-thin Full HD LED Monitor
Posted by Arne Hess - at 13:28 CET under 01 - General News

Last night I received a press release of an upcoming Kickstarter campaign which sounds interesting. Top 50 Kickstarter entrepreneur Nell Harton, who's earlier campaign exceeded the goal by 2000 %, is looking for further funding to make the lightweight and paper-thin Able-HD Plus monitor a truth. The Able-HD Plus monitor allows users to take the experience and enhanced productivity of a multi-monitor system with them wherever they go. The 15" or 17" 1080p Full HD display is said to weight around 2 pounds / 0.9 Kg only and is less than a third as thick as a standard HD monitor and fits easily in a backpack or briefcase. A multi-port, detachable adapter board is said to be compatible with laptops, smartphones, Xbox, Ouya, Pi, Kano and other devices, and comes complete with Audio in/out, HDMI, VGA, and DVI plugs.
