Unveiled
during the
recent Mobile World Congress in Barcelona already, today Giga-Byte
Communications Inc., (GBC) announced its latest Windows Phone, the
GSmart S1200,
again. Designed as a light, slim and trendy styled smartphone, the S1200 runs on
Windows Mobile 6.1 with an upgrade option to Windows Mobile 6.5. The stylish and
powerful S1200 is powered by a Qualcomm CPU at 528 MHz and supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA
as well as Bluetooth and WiFi b/g and GPS. The device features a 3.1" WVGA
touchscreen, featuring Giga-Byte's self-developed and now called "Smart
Vision" GUI. The
autofocus camera snaps photos up to 3 megapixel. The S1200 measures 106 x 52 x 11.4
mm and includes a Send, End and function button only to keep the design as
minimalistic as possible.

The latest GBC self-developed User Interface – Smart Vision, the first time to
be presented to the public at currently running COMPUTEX Taipei, integrates the User Interface
modules of Windows Mobile, feature phone and pull & slide. Active and
realistic wallpapers can receive the latest
weather information from real-time realistic status presented on the screen.
Moreover Smart Vision has various scenes of
wallpapers which will present different states by timing such as morning,
daytime, nightfall and night.
To fulfill users' demands, GBC developed the function of G-Widget which includes
Time, Note, Calculator, Weather and more. These applications will reside on the
G-Widget after simply setting-up and users can check status easily by simply touching
the screen to activate. G-Widget has another thoughtful function which will alarm
users of the status of the device.
Giga-Byte hasn't yet given any information of when and where the GSmart
S1200 will be released.
Cheers ~ Arne
