Are you ready for this year's Summer Olympics, starting later this month in London? Doesn't matter if you are at home, on site or an attending athlete (I know of at least one the::unwired reader who's attending), London 2012 just released the official "London 2012 Results App" for Android and iOS which provides all the latest news, schedules and results, allowing users to keep up-to-date with the latest action live, across all Olympic sports and later all Paralympic sports. Key features include results, live updates, calendar schedule, details of sports, medal tables and athlete profiles. Users can also follow specific countries, and receive official news and updates tailored to them all in one app.
Results are covering all events for the 36 sports for the Olympics and 21 sports for the Paralympics. The live schedule allows to follow the latest sporting Olympic events that are currently in progress and shows results in real-time which can be even shared with friends. View live updates shows news, photos and social commentary from the Games. The calendar schedule shows day-by-day which sporting events are taking place in the Olympic schedule and allows to set favorites or reminders to create a personalized selection. Sports shows details of each of the sports; all the latest results, latest news, latest pictures and background information including football, swimming and track.
Since the Olympics are all about medals the app also shows the overall Olympic medal count as they are awarded throughout the Games - by country, by individual and by sport Athletes shows all the participating athletes and review their details and current Olympic standings for London 2012. The sophisticated search tool allows to personalize the experience and allows to follow the performance of favorite athletes.
The London 2012 Results App is available in English only, but useful for anyone around the world interested in the Olympics and Paralympics.
It's now available free of charge from Google's Play Android Market and requires Android 2.1 or higher as well as Apple iTunes.
