Well, that's too cool. As most of us (I think) I'm a big fan of both, Google Earth and Microsoft's MSN Virtual Earth and MSN Virtual Earth also provides a handy API which has become increasingly popular amongst developers. Thanks to so many Windows Mobile developers it was just a matter of time before a Windows Mobile-based client would be developed. Now, Pocket Earth for Pocket PCs is available indeed, a fast and easy-to-use client for the Pocket PC designed to access the MSN Virtual Earth service (but better use a WiFi connection instead of a cheap GPRS or UMTS connection).
However, today Mike Temporale from Smartphone Thoughts reported, that the same application, which was initially designed for Pocket PCs also works great with Smartphones:
Microsoft's Virtual Earth has gathered a lot of attention since it's launch. In fact, if you haven't already done so, I suggest you take it for a spin. Better yet, why not take it for a spin on your Smartphone? It appears that you can install Pocket Earth on your Smartphone, and it works just fine! I haven't had a chance to snap any screenshots yet.
Way too cool and maybe handy for your next trip also? At least it's fun, you should give it a try!
Pocket Earth is available as a free downloaded from the Virtual Earth Gallery.
Cheers ~ Arne
