Right in time for the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the Global Certification Forum (GCF) has approved the Samsung GT-S5830 Android smartphone which recently made its way to the Web as the "Samsung Galaxy S Mini". According to the GCF, the GT-S5830 is pretty much a mid-range smartphone, featuring quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as dualband UMTS/HSDPA at 850/2100 MHz. However, the 850/2100 MHz combination is quite unusual for a European smartphone where 900/2100 MHz is normally used. Anyway, the Wi-Fi Alliance has also approved it recently and confirmed WiFi b/g/n support.
According to further information from the Internet, the Samsung GT-S85830 is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm MSM7227 and running on Android 2.2.1. Furthermore sources said that the GT-S5830 will feature a 5 megapixel camera and a 3.5" HVGA (480 x 320 pixels) touchscreen.
It can be expected that Samsung will unveil the GT-S5830 during next month's Mobile World Congress.
