APPROVED: Samsung's 8 GB SGH-i310 Windows Mobile Smartphone received the FCC approval

As Engadget Mobile found out, Samsung's SGH-i310 (the 8 GB follower of the SGH-i300) Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone got the approval by the FCC.
However, the initial specifications indicated, that the i310 is a triband GSM device only, which makes a US release unlikely (since it misses the GSM 850 MHz band). Not sure if Samsung either changed this in the last minute to quadband or why Samsung is filling a FCC approval? The SAR report indicates at least a GSM 1900 MHz and Bluetooth 2400 MHz tests only, not a single word about GSM 850 MHz.
Nevertheless, no word yet which carrier (doesn't matter if US, Europe or Asia) is going to pick it up, after just a few carrier picked up the i310's forerunner, the SGH-i300, which - unfortunately - came with Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition the same time, Windows Mobile 5.0 was released.

So it looks like the SGH-i310 will be, as the i300 was before, a triband GSM, GPRS and EDGE (new) phone only, supporting GSM 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz. The screen will be, as expected, a QVGA color screen supporting 65.536 colors. The dimension of the i310 is 111,9 x 48,5 x 19,8mm with a weight of 120g.

Cheers ~ Arne
