By
end of September, Vodafone will be the first German telecommunications provider
to offer Palm's latest Treo Windows Mobile smartphone, the
Palm Treo Pro. The
Treo Pro is the Treo
750v's successor and it incorporates a comprehensive range of technical
features that give mobile business customers optimum support in their day to day
work. Weighing in at 133 grams, the quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and triband
UMTS/HSDPA smartphone has a large color touchscreen with 320x320 pixel
resolution. It also has a 2 megapixel camera for photos and videos. The Treo
Smartphone works at mobile wireless broadband speeds of up to 3.6 Mbit/s so it's
perfect for mobile surfing.

It has a built-in GPS module for mobile navigation. Customers can use the
pre-installed Vodafone navigation software for two weeks on a free trial basis
without any obligation. A QWERTY keyboard simplifies the process of writing
E-Mails and the central 5-way navigation button can be used for convenient
operation of the smartphone's functions. The Treo has a one-touch button for
wireless access and a ringer switch to silence the phone on the side of the
housing. The microSD card slot enables the enhancement of memory from 256 MB to
up to 32 GB (the memory card does not come with the phone).
The new Palm Treo Pro will be available later September from Vodafone in
connection with a 24 month contract at prices starting from 169.90 Euro.
