The Canadian operator today announced the launch and availability of the Samsung SGH-i616 (aka the BlackJack II) and the Motorola Q9h Windows Mobile 6 Standard smartphones. According to Fido, its customers can now make sure they 'never lose out on anything', with unlimited personal E-Mails available with most popular domains, 3G high-speed mobile browsing and the ability to view and edit Word and Excel documents and view presentations on Windows Mobile 6 Standard powered devices, the Motorola Q9 and Samsung JACK. Customers will be able to view and send Microsoft Office documents, plus send and receive unlimited E-Mails from up to 5 E-Mail accounts, including Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail and other POP3/IMAP4 and Microsoft Exchange accounts.

"The typical Fido customer is a hip and young professional," said Patrick Hadsipantelis, VP, Marketing, Fido. "They are social urbanites who are constantly on the go and need to stay close to friends and colleagues. The addition of the Windows Mobile 6 devices to our portfolio offers our customers tremendous value in terms of unlimited E-Mails and the ability to access information and content that is relevant to them, whenever and wherever they are."

The Motorola Q9 retails for CAD$ 275 on a three year contract plus Windows Mobile option. The Samsung JACK retails for CAD$ 225 for a three year contract plus Windows Mobile option.

Windows Mobile plans start at CAD$ 15 for 2 MB and unlimited E-Mails to most popular domains including Hotmail, Yahoo and Gmail. For a limited time, customers who sign up for a Windows Mobile plan will also receive 3 months of unlimited mobile browsing.

Cheers ~ Arne
