Is this backing-up the theory of Windows Phone 8-alike tablets? According the Finnish magazine Kauppalehti Optio which was brought-up by Reuters, Marko Ahtisaari, head of design at Nokia, has confirmed that he's working a third of his current time on a new Nokia tablet an is quoted with "We are working on it". According to Reuters and The Verge, he hasn't disclosed any further details, but given the fact that he's responsible for the software and hardware design, the amount of time he's dedicating to the Nokia tablet marks it out as a project well under development. The Verge continued that the most recent speculation are that Nokia's tablet in question is a 10", Qualcomm-powered Windows 8 slate.

Keeping in mind Nokia's history and how badly it failed with its Booklet 3G, it makes most sense that Nokia is rather taking the Qualcomm SoC platform than the x86 platform since such a SoC platform is closer to its smartphone know-how than to a virtually non-existent PC know-how. Same for HTC which also failed badly with its x86-based HTC Shift. However, if smartphone manufacturers are using the SoC ARM Windows 8 platform instead of the x86 Windows 8 platform, it would also make a lot of sense for them to link these tablets closer to the Windows Phone 8 eco-system than to the Windows 8 eco-system since they could reuse their Windows Phone apps, including the use of the Windows Phone Marketplace for their tablets.

Recent rumors from the Mobile World Congress floor suggested that Microsoft will have two kind of tablet versions available: one linked closer to Windows Phone and one linked closer to Windows.
