Steven Elop, Nokia's new CEO told Reuters on Friday, that the company's work on the first Windows Phone 7-based smartphones has already begun. Following Microsoft's and Nokia's partnership agreement last month, Nokia is "having people (already) work(ing) on the first Windows Phone devices from Nokia", so Elop. However, Elop also confirmed Reuters, that Nokia has also considered to partner with Google, using the Android operating system, but decided it would be too difficult to differentiate its smartphones from a multitude of other Android devices made by the likes of Samsung or HTC.

Nokia expects that Windows Phone-based Nokia smartphones will be on sale from 2012, but Elop aims to produce a first Windows Phone based device by the end of this year already.
