Announced by HP early last month, O2 Germany today confirmed via Twitter that it will launch the HP Veer webOS smartphone anytime in May. Running on webOS 2.1, the HP Veer is - with the size of a credit card and no thicker than a deck of cards - the smallest webOS phone to date. At 54.5 x 84.0 x 15.1 mm and only 103 grams, the Veer is powered by a CPU at 800 MHz and features quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as triband UMTS/HSPA, a vivid 2.57" glass 320 x 400 resolution display touchscreen, full slide-out keyboard, 8 GB of internal user storage, WiFi b/g, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, integrated aGPS and a 5 megapixel camera as well as a proximity and light sensor and an accelerometer.

The Veer offers the higher-end features of a smartphone, such as easy messaging and access to apps, social networks and the web, including support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Beta in the browser for access to rich, Flash-based web content. It has a full slide-out keyboard, vivid touchscreen and access to thousands of webOS apps in a surprisingly small, modern package that fits easily into a pocket or purse. It’s everything a smartphone should be, but in a smarter size.

Last but not least, the HP Veer also includes HP Synergy, which is exclusive to webOS devices and brings together information from multiple sources across the web automatically, so the information you need is all in one place.

Neither O2 Germany nor HP have announced an estimated retail price.

Cheers ~ Arne
