CONFIRMED: T-Mobile USA announced the HTC Excalibur as T-Mobile Dash [UPDATE]

Well, that's pretty unusual but today T-Mobile USA indeed announced the T-Mobile Dash (which is just a rebranded HTC Excalibur) before any other European T-Mobile subsidiary incl. T-Mobile Germany have announced it. In the past, T-Mobile USA only followed but now they are leading.
So what's the T-Mobile Dash about? The Dash is based on High Tech Computer's (HTC) Excalibur reference design (also used by O2 Germany for the O2 Xda cosmo) and is Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone with QWERTY keyboard. Beside the support for quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE, the Dash also includes Bluetooth and Wi-Fi which makes it such a unique BlackBerry-like Smartphone (yet because the Samsung SGH-i600 will also include W-LAN).
In addition, the device is sporting a 1.3 megapixel camera and supports T-Mobile's new myFaves service with a dedicated Homescreen plugin:

The T-Mobile Dash (please note that it is neither called SDA Dash nor MDA Dash which makes it even more unusual) will retail for US$ 349. With a two year contract, T-Mobile is offering it for US$ 199; with a one year contract, it will be available for US$ 249.
Last but not least, Engadget Mobile has already uploaded its review of the Dash and T-Mobile indeed changed the JOGGR functionality of its Excalibur version.

UPDATE: The T-Mobile Dash will be available exclusively to T-Mobile customers beginning October 25 at T-Mobile retail stores and online at Prior to retail availability, customers can learn more about the T-Mobile Dash at

UPDATE 2: Funny, the "more info" page I've mentioned above is currently showing more info about the new BlackBerry Pearl which isn't - AFAIK - Windows Mobile-based at all. T-Mobile should better update the info-site before they are going to send out press releases.

Cheers ~ Arne
