Following Deutsche Telekom's and Evernote's earlier cooperation in Germany, where German T-Mobile customers received free 12 months Evernote Premium features, the to companies just announced that they are expanding their partnership to cover the 12 markets in the Deutsche Telekom's footprint in continental Europe. I don't have to explain you Evernote at all but Evernote allows to take notes, clip webpages, snap articles, create to-do lists and record audio using mobile phones. The service, which is globally available anyway, is now also available in all 12 Deutsche Telekom markets where customers, who activate from now until October 2, can redeem six months of Evernote Premium by downloading via online app stores or by purchasing a new Android device that already has the application preloaded.
Deutsche Telekom customers who take advantage of the promotion will also benefit from advanced features like an increased 1 GB monthly upload capacity, offline notebook usage and accelerated picture recognition. The Premium feature set also includes Document Search, which allows users to search documents, presentations and spreadsheets within their Evernote Notebooks, and also Reminders, which ensure users stay on track with all of their personal and professional projects.
The app will be pre-installed on Android in portfolio handsets over the course of the first quarter of 2014 in 11 markets, with the Austrian market to follow early in the second quarter. Local language versions are already available in Austria, Hungary, the Netherlands, Poland and Romania, with the English language version of Evernote available for the remaining markets. Deutsche Telekom is launching Evernote in Albania, Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Montenegro, Macedonia, The Netherlands, Poland, Romania and Slovakia but interesting enough - not in the UK where Deutsche Telekom is now operating its mobile business together with Orange under the "EE" brand name. Also interesting is the fact that Deutsche Telekom has neither mentioned Apple's iOS nor Microsoft's Windows Phone to be part of the promotion.
UPDATE: I've just spoken with Deutsche Telekom and the spokesperson confirmed us, that the offer is also applicable for iOS and Windows Phone customers and that the press release was a little bit misleading! But Evernote will be preinstalled on Android smartphones only. However, Deutsche Telekom confirmed that this cooperation is indeed to offered to T-Mobile UK aka EE customers. (21.01.2014)
