Sure, when Microsoft announced its Surface tablet PC earlier last week, the first thing everybody had in mind, and also I asked this on Twitter, was the question how long it will take Microsoft to launch its own branded Windows Phone? But in in a recent interview, Microsoft's Greg Sullivan, Senior Marketing Manager for Windows Phone has answered the question pretty straight forward by saying "No, we do not" have plans to manufacture own company-branded smartphones, denying reports and speculations. Sullivan continued to explain that "we (Microsoft) have a strong ecosystem of partners that we are very satisfied with".

When Microsoft announced Windows Phone 8 only days after it announced Surface, the company said that first Windows Phones will be manufactured by HTC, Huawei, Nokia and Samsung, but not by LG and ZTE which so far both supported Windows Phone.

Cheers ~ Arne
