Late but not too late, Mike Schroepfer from the Mozilla Foundation posted on his blog yesterday, that there are plans now to officially port Mozilla to mobile devices.
This means that the Mozilla Foundation will make core platform decisions with mobile devices as first-class citizens to ship a version of "Mobile Firefox" which can, among other things, run Firefox extensions on mobile devices and allow others to build rich applications via XUL.
Furthermore it's planned that Mozilla will expand its small team of full-time mobile contributors to focus on the technology and application needs of mobile devices.

The Firefox Foundation hasn't yet determined what the target platforms will be but I'm quite sure, Windows Mobile (and please keep in mind there are two Windows Mobile platform: with and without touch screen) will be one of it. A public release of Mobile Firefox is not planned before 2008 so stay tuned for further information.

Cheers ~ Arne
