weeks ago, during the
Mobile World Congress,
Samsung announced its "Samsung Mobile Innovator" program for Java and
Windows Mobile developers and devices which was said to "open up new
opportunities for mobile developers deploying their products to Samsung devices".
Samsung Mobile Innovator wants to provide a significant opportunity for mobile
developers to create applications and services on Samsung devices for a global
audience. Samsung Mobile Innovator provides developers with the tools, technical
content and support which is required to create applications and services
that work on the Samsung open mobile platforms.
Now, Samsung has released the first Windows Mobile-focused result, Samsung
Windows Mobile SDK 1.0. It offers APIs to use advanced features unique to
Samsung phones. You might already have experience using advanced capabilities
featured in the Windows Mobile APIs, like GPS, Bluetooth or multimedia support.
In addition to the Microsoft Windows Mobile APIs, you can use Samsung APIs to
access phone features such as the accelerometer, notification LEDs and haptics
feedback. In addition to the Windows Mobile SDK, Samsung also released a couple
of Windows Mobile and Samsung API related white papers.
Samsung Mobile Innovator is free to join. The basic (Hub) membership is open
to everyone at all levels of interest in open mobile devices. In recognition of
partner companies, there is also an invite-only Core membership level.
