Yesterday evening, Google updated its Google Maps Mobile to v4.6 which comes with a couple of enhancements and improvements. First of all, Google updated reviews and search filters but also added an experimental Google Latitude "real-time update" option from an individual Latitude friend's profile page to help meet up with friends by temporarily seeing faster location updates. However, this experimental option requires Google Maps Mobile 4.6 and an Android device running on Android 2.2 or greater. All the other enhancements like updated reviews and search filters work on any every smartphone running Android 1.6 or later.

Google Maps 4.6 for Android 1.6 and above is now available from the Android Market, everywhere where Google Maps Mobile is already available.
