ENHANCED: Google updates Google Music Manager - adds download functionality to PCs

Not really Android related but because Google Music makes most fun with Android devices, it's good to know that Google has updated its Music Manager PC software and added a new, nifty feature! As you already know, since Google Music went out of Beta, U.S. users can upload up to 20,000 songs to Google Music for free and stream them to any Android device - from smartphone to tablet. Now, Google made sure that the process is just as smooth for users to also retrieve the music from the cloud by rolling-out a new version of its PC Music Manager that allows to download all the songs from Google Music, including all songs users uploaded as well as purchased from the Google Music store.

Since it's just a download aka a copy, songs won't be removed from the cloud but it's quite a handy backup functionality if your computer crashes or you switch to a different computer or NAS.

The installed Music Manager client isn't noticing users, that a new version is available but it needs to be downloaded and installed manually but this is only a click away from your Google Music homepage on the web. However, to get the new Music Manager with download functionality, you have to click the "Upload Music" link on the top.

Cheers ~ Arne
