Since
2000, Microsoft holds every year an invitation-only conference called
Möbius and next
week, this
year's Möbius event takes place again in Seattle. Like many Möbius
conferences before, I was happy enough to be invited again and therefore I will
fly-out to Seattle tomorrow morning. As with most/all Möbius events, it's a kind
of surprising agenda since you don't know what Microsoft and their partners will
present but Möbius is about mobility and gadgets and therefore I expect we will
get some deep-dive sessions about Windows Mobile, Window phone, services and
devices; I'm quite sure it will packed with loads
information again.
And, as you can see bellow, it's not just about Microsoft technologies like
Windows Mobile but Möbius tries to cover the whole mobile ecosystem which even
includes other platforms from competitors.

If you haven't heard
about Möbius before, it's an invitation-only community (with roughly 150+
members now) of the - as the
website describes it -
"world's most influential
technology pundits and online writers/bloggers, initiated back in 2000 by
Microsoft". The yearly Möbius conference brings together around 25 Möbians
"which
normally interact behind the scenes with companies, big and small, to shape the
direction of devices, services, pricing, design and the culture of consumer
technology". While Möbius isn't a full featured NDA event/briefing, much of the
information - especially the roadmap outlooks - are given under a gentlemen
agreed handshake NDA and this worked fine all the years before. However, Möbius isn't just another
blogger, press
or analysts briefing but the main part of the whole conference it is the vital
interaction and discussion between the
attendees, Microsoft and its partners. It's 48 hours of discussions, sharing
information and thoughts about the mobile and wireless future.
Nevertheless, Möbius also gives enough room for latest news and views and as
all the years before, also this year I will do my best to cover as much as
possible live through the different channels:
Twitter
the::unwired
I'm really looking forward how this live photo upload will work. Möbius
always a good event to try new features and this year I will have my digital
camera with me, which is equipped with a
Eye-Fi Pro WiFi SD card. Every
photo I take is automatically uploaded to the::unwired (thanks to Eye-Fi's
recently enabled FTP functionality), either through my
Novatel Wireless MiFi
portable WiFi/UMTS router or through a public WiFi around me.
Last but not least the full disclosure: Microsoft is sponsoring this event
which means Microsoft takes care of the flight tickets, the hotel and the meals.
Cheers ~ Arne
