EVENTS: What has Microsoft in the Pipeline that requires 1 Press Conference & 2 Analyst Briefings? [UPDATE]

It's somewhat clear now that Microsoft will show something new, something different at next month's Mobile World Congress and this can't be the Windows Mobile 6.5.3 refresh only but it must be something different. Doesn't matter if it is "Windows Mobile 7", "Project Pink" or the "Zune Phone", it has to be something great because otherwise Microsoft would have a press conference on Monday the 15th, followed by "Microsoft financial analyst briefing" the same day with a dedicated "Windows Mobile financial conference call" seven days later. I'm not aware that Microsoft ever had three so important Windows Mobile (funny enough that it's not called "Windows phone") events within 7 days only.

And if Microsoft is going to give analysts first hand information about Windows Mobile, Microsoft must have the expectation that the thing they are talking about must be something huge! Huge for Microsoft, huge for the industry and huge for the financial impact of Microsoft's value!

Furthermore, while Microsoft hasn't spilled any beans who is going to lead the Mobile World Congress press conference, it's also somewhat confirmed now that Andy Lees (who we interviewed some time ago) is giving us the pleasure to unveil Microsoft's mobile strategy.

UPDATE: In a recent Forx News interview, Microsoft CFO Peter Klein confirmed that Microsoft will indeed show Windows Mobile 7 at next month's Mobile World Congress when Fox News asked him if "we (are) going to see Windows 7 Mobile come out in 2010?",Klein said that "We (Microsoft) are heads down working on Windows Mobile 7. We will have much more to say about that at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February".

Cheers ~ Arne
