NewsGator Technologies, Inc. today announced that it has expanded its mobile portfolio with new RSS aggregators for Windows Mobile and J2ME-enabled devices. The new products accompany the NewsGator Mobile reader for HTML-enabled devices as part of the industry's most complete mobile RSS catalog. All three mobile products synchronize with the NewsGator family of products, anchored by NewsGator Online, the company's Web-based aggregator, allowing customers to read content and manage their subscriptions seamlessly from any device.

NewsGator recently acquired the Windows Mobile reader (formerly called SmartRead) and SmartFeed, a mobile podcatching application. Kevin Cawley, creator of the products, has joined the NewsGator team to oversee the company's mobile product development.

"As RSS gains in popularity, mobile-based aggregators take on an increasingly important role," said Greg Reinacker, founder and CTO of NewsGator. "We are committed to making it as easy as possible for individuals and businesses to view their feeds anytime, anywhere, with synchronization across multiple devices. In the coming months, we will be releasing a wide range of mobile solutions, including applications that synchronize with NewsGator Enterprise Server and Private Label solutions."

Windows Mobile RSS Reader
This RSS aggregator is designed specifically for any Windows-based mobile device including Pocket PCs and Smartphones. Written to take advantage of the NewsGator Online API, the Windows Mobile reader features a familiar and easy-to-use interface. Articles and subscriptions will be fully synchronized across NewsGator's entire suite or products.

It will enter beta in the spring of 2006, with general availability slated for Q2 2006 and an expected price of $29.95 including a one-year subscription. A preview of the application is available at

"I recently looked at an early version of the product and am impressed with the direction it is headed," said Jeff Donnici, vice president of global engineering at Global Energy. "The user interface was intuitive and the synchronization with my NewsGator Online account worked flawlessly."

Windows Mobile Podcatcher – SmartFeed
The mobile podcatcher is currently available free of charge and works on any Windows-based mobile device. In the coming months, SmartFeed's functionality will be integrated into the other NewsGator mobile applications and will synchronize with NewsGator Online. SmartFeed is available for download at

Since NewsGator is my choice of RSS Reader, I'm happy to see NewsGator Technologies is finally going forward to support Windows Mobile.

Cheers ~ Arne
