Okay, I've teased you long enough with the NFC game I was recently playing and Beta testing and here we go, it's now released and available. Nemory is an Android Memory game which uses the NFC capabilities of compatible phones. However, instead of finding the pair of pictures on the display only, it uses NFC tags which basically "hold" the pictures which are then displayed on the touchscreen. But the neat features is, that these NFC tags can be virtually anything and don't have to be writeable at all but Nemory is only using the NFC tag ID. Therefore it can be played with blank read/writable NFC tags, NFC enabled credit cards, NFC enabled access control cards or whatever you have in your wallet.

After the tags are registered, up to 4 players can either play the classic, a layer or a 3D mode to find corresponding pictures or sounds. There's virtually no limit of NFC cards which can be used but in my testing more than 12 - 16 cards became pretty difficult, especially if you play the sound mode.

Nemory, which is to my knowledge the first good NFC game, is a pretty decent proof of concept for NFC and it's now available free of charge from the Android market but requires, as you can expect, an NFC enabled device. It was successfully tested and played on the Android 2.3.6-based Google Nexus S and the Android 4.0-based Galaxy Nexus. If you have one of these phones, give your brain a break and play some memory with your colleagues.

Cheers ~ Arne
