Just like any other mobile phone, the ones that come with Microsoft's Smartphone 2002 OS, are designed to connect you to other people anytime and anywhere. But that is only half the story. How to do it with ease may somewhat require a comparatively steeper learning curve than the basic handset variety.

The Smartphones powered by Microsoft's Smartphone 2002software have a distinct advantage over the basic handsets and normally even the most advanced one found in the market today. They have Pocket Outlook built into them. This I feel is a very powerful feature of the Smartphone. It let's you store numerous entries, and supports more than 40 fields. But with that much information, how do you handle calling a contact or sending a contact an SMS with ease?

The Smartphone does this from the very start. Using T9 tehnology to search for names, it tries to match a name to the initial presses of the keypad. For example I were to call Arne or send him an SMS, all that is needed to bring me to his Contact details is to press the numbers 2-7-6-3 and his name pops up as one of the names in the selection.

Once the name is visible, simply scroll down to the selected name and it will be highlighted. Pressing the Action Button (joystick) will either initiate the call or activate the appropriate application to access the selected information.

You will notice that on the right side of the name, there are letters represented by w, w2, h, h1, m, sms, e, e2, e3, or web, used to indicate which data is readily accessible by depressing the action button. Using the right action or left action of the joystick toggles between the available contact numbers, email address or web address for easy acccess. Once selected, all that needs to be done is to depress the action button (joystick) to initiate the desired action.
