For several weeks now, Hudson Mobiles IP Dashboard is available (see my review here) and since mid last month it's available in the updated 1.2 version which also supports Windows Mobile 2003 now.
However, one Pocket PC cannot be equated with another and most interesting is how it works on a Pocket PC Phone Edition with Windows Mobile 2003 and it's amazing how Microsoft integrated GSM into the OS now that the available information can be used from other applications like IP Dashboard.
Because of this smooth integration, IP Dashboard (if configured to use the adapter automatically) shows you your currently used GSM network as well as the signal strength right in the Today screen:
That's absolute fantastic as it gives you a quick overview, right from the Today screen about the network conditions and carrier used (something I always missed with the original Phone Edition, doesn't matter if 2002 or 2003 now) and as expected, as soon as you switch over to a GPRS connection it shows you your IP address as well as traffic information and more.
That's what I wish to see more in future, closer integrations of great 3rd party apps into the core OS by using Microsoft's CE APIs.
Congrats Microsoft, congrats Hudson Mobile! :-)
Cheers ~ Arne
