As expected, today Dopod has announced it's C730 Windows Mobile 6 Standard smartphone - also known as longtime delayed HTC Cavalier. This sleek Smartphone is built to empower users who crave power and connectivity. Operated by a powerful 400 MHz processor, the C730 keeps you connected easily with Microsoft Direct Push Technology and 3.5G HSDPA. Measuring only 13.5 mm, this slim device has a built-in high speed 802.11 b/g WiFi connection, while supporting quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and WCDMA UMTS/HSDPA. The C730 is also equipped with a 5-way navigational button, 3-way smart jog bar and full QWERTY keypad, guaranteeing you seamless navigation, convenient scrolling and easy input for messaging, sending and receiving E-Mails as well as chatting on MSN/Live Messenger.

The C730 personifies professionalism and embraces cutting-edge technology. Weighing only 120 g, this classy Smartphone packs a whole lot of punch. It comes with a 128 MB built-in ROM and 64 MB RAM memory as well as a 2.4" QVGA display screen. Shutterbugs will love the 2.0 megapixel CMOS camera that not only allows users to edit photos but also gives them the option of recording videos and voices.

The C730 is designed with the ambitious professional in mind. It acts as your own mobile office, allowing you to edit documents on the way, sync your E-Mail and schedule list as well as your contacts database. It also allows you to access Windows Live on the go, so you can have multiple conversations with your friends and business partners as well as instantly push your Hotmail E-Mail directly to your phone. To ease things further, this device is equipped with Voice Commander, enabling you to make calls and browse through messages and E-Mails hands-free.

The C730 is also one of the first Smartphone in the market to deliver rich HTML E-Mail support. This is a key feature in Windows Mobile 6 and means that reading your E-Mails in HTML format on this device is just like reading them on your desktop PC - clear and uncut. The HTML E-Mail support works with any POP mail account and Exchange Server 2007 and really positions the C730 to be at the forefront of this advanced technology.

Jack Tong, CEO of Dopod International Corp says, "Once again, Dopod International has bested itself by pushing out another device that caters to the needs of its consumers. Seeing the rapid growth of mobile enterprise E-Mail subscribers throughout Southeast Asia, we've decided to market the 3.5G messaging phone that will not only ensure you of total connectivity, but also enhance your efficiency while meeting the rigorous demands of a professional lifestyle. In the business world, power and connectivity are essential tools and the C730 has them all."

Jason Lim, Regional Director, Asia Pacific & Japan, Mobile Communications Business, Microsoft Corp. said: "As one of the first Smartphones powered by the new Windows Mobile 6 operating system, the C730 allows users to fully embrace the benefits of mobile computing. We have already seen significant traction for Windows Mobile in Southeast Asia, and by integrating our software with Dopod International's innovative devices, we will continue to redefine user experiences for mobile office workers and consumers alike."

In line with its aim to bring ultimate connectivity to consumers, the C730 comes with BlackBerry Connect v4.0. This will enable users to access popular BlackBerry services with support for both BlackBerry Enterprise Server and BlackBerry Internet Service. These include "push"-based wireless E-Mail access, wireless E-Mail reconciliation and attachment viewing. The BlackBerry Connect v4.0 will be made available via web download in end June.

Available from early June, the C730 will retail in Singapore at a suggested price of S$ 898/US$ 590/435 Euro. Further APAC availability wasn't announced so far.

Cheers ~ Arne
