Jataayu Software is previewing their new Smartphone MMS client here, on the MDC exhibition. The Tanager I spoke about yesterday already included the Jataayu browser so I already had the chance to give it a closer look.
Overall the general integration looks pretty nice, however it’s running as a standalone application unlike the EZOS WAP browser which is used on the Orange SPV and here we come to the bottom line, I personally don’t like to have several different applications for messaging but only one – the Inbox.
The nice part of EZOS WAP integration on the SPV is that it plugs into the Smartphone Inbox and so I have one place to create new messages as well as one place/journal to see all my received messages, doesn’t matter if it is a SMS, E-Mail or MMS.
As long as Jataayu is working with a separate application without the link into the Inbox, it’s not so convenient like the EZOS browser.
I know, that unfortunately the Inbox doesn’t provide a simple service integration but as we’ve seen it from EZOS, it’s possible to integrate services into the Inbox anyhow – so this is something I truly want to see for MMS clients, doesn’t matter from whom it is developed but the Inbox should be the only location on the Smartphone which contains all messages – at least from the creation and journal point of view!
Cheers ~ Arne
