On
the first sight, it looks like a typical
HTC Sense
smartphone but HTC's
latest mobile phone is neither running Windows Mobile nor Android. HTC just
officially unveiled the HTC Smart - which
leaked as
Touch.B or HTC
Rome before - a new type of smartphone that creates a new category of
easy-to-use, connected smartphones that are accessible by people all over the
world. HTC Smart begins with a friendly compact touch design and integrates an
intuitive user experience that is centered around HTC Sense, an HTC design
philosophy that puts people at the center by focusing on three core areas: Make
It Mine, Stay Close and Discover the Unexpected.

The HTC Smart is HTC's first non-smartphone, running Qualcomm's Brew Mobile
Platform. It supports quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as singleband UMTS/HSDPA at
2100 MHz as well as Bluetooth 2.0+EDR. Being a feature phone only, the Smart
neither sports WiFi nor a GPS receiver. The 2.8" TFT touchscreen supports QVGA
and the fixfocus camera supports 3.0 megapixel but also supports a supporting
flash LED.
At a size of 104 x 55 x 12.8 mm, the device weights 108 grams including the
battery. The inbuild 256 MB RAM and ROM can be expanded with microSD memory
cards.
HTC Smart enables personal customization of each person’s own phone
experience. It also provides a quick and easy way to see what friends are up to
via various social networks as well as quickly communicating over the phone,
through text messaging or E-Mail. As unveiled earlier already, the HTC Smart
utilizes Qualcomm’s Brew Mobile Platfrom, a popular mobile operating system that
enables feature phones to be offered at more aggressive price points, providing
HTC with the flexibility to deliver smartphone features on devices across
multiple tiers.
The HTC Smart will be available this spring across Europe and Asia. A price
wasn't given today.
